You can find all my music recommendations in this enormous (and great!) Spotify playlist: open.spotify.com/playlist/7xโ€ฆ And follow me on Instagram for the latest music recs, because I'm going to move away from Twitter and this 7-year-old thread: instagram.com/gabrieljr
I'm going to start a music recommendation thread so I can start organizing all the songs I love and want you to love.

St. Louis loves its Bosnian community.
Fun part of this World Cup is learning about all these specific ethnic enclaves in the US, every game has some cut thatโ€™s like โ€œand hereโ€™s the famed Curaรงaoan community in Wilmington, Delawareโ€ and itโ€™s some random bar with like 450,000 people

As someone who lives in Kansas City, one thing I have to say about Disclosure Day (which I really liked) is that despite most of the movie being set in Kansas City, it's very obvious that NONE of it was actually filmed here and it almost took me out of the movie

The World Cup-Disclosure Day convergence reaffirms that Kansas City is the most important city in the world โ€” and possibly the universe.

Spent the day at Kansas City's FIFA Fan Festival on its very first day โ€” and it was a real microcosm of KC summers. Dangerously hot and humid, then a sudden downpour, and then back to blue skies. Check out my video on how to keep cool on KCUR's Tik Tok: lnkd.in/gsNdh_hz

$4 for a bottle of water at Kansas City's World Cup festival. $19 for a beer. You can bring your own (plastic, empty) water bottle into the fest. Organizers told us there would be water stations around โ€” but only four locations for the 25,000 attendees.
Checking out the KC Fan Fest at WWI Memorial. Awesome set up. Beer prices though, yikes

NPR has a lot more it needs to do in order to build a true national network and collaborate better with its member stationsย โ€” it's still mostly stuck in a broadcast past. But the crisis remains: Congress cutting federal funding HAS succeeded in hurting journalism in the U.S.

Resale tickets to Kansas City's Algeria vs. Austria match have dropped way below FIFA's initial eye-poppingly-high prices.
Resale prices are dipping for nearly every World Cup match. A Cat 1 ticket to the U.S. opener is listed for $1300, less than half FIFA's price. Most games still ๐Ÿ’ฐ, but for some, the trend complicates FIFA's efforts to sell remaining tickets. More: nytimes.com/athletic/7260127โ€ฆ

A sobering showing so far from the @VenetoulisInst, as it cuts experienced, Pulitzer-winning journalists who poured their lives into the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, many of whom spent 3 years on strike standing up for the staff's rights. cjr.org/feature/venetoulis-iโ€ฆ
