The most based thing I'm going to say about the gaming industry is that you were never enough. The industry wants more than what you offered. They knew you were spending a lot of time in one game. So they found ways to get you spend more while you were playing it (MTX & DLC). They knew gaming was white male dominated. So they needed to push diversity to make it more friendly for different demographics to sell more. They knew consoles weren't growing in big ways. So some went for mobile and cloud. Next it'll be that gamers get stuck to the point they don't buy new games so they'll push for self playing games so you can finally finish it to move on. Corporations will always push for growth at the expense of their current base because they assume loyalty. That's where the advent of the self funded indies with AA budgets are really becoming the treasure trove for gamers. It's coming for folk that are interested in making a good game, not a game that helps increase this quarters revenue goals. I do say this with a level of pessimism BUT I do think that there have been some positive changes along the way to get more people to play but a lot of it was never organic. It was done to help a spreadsheet. AAA gaming is in a weird state but thankfully there are so many great games to play out there, they aren't needed like they once were but investments are drying up so I am worried for the AA titles. Don't know what the future holds but it sucks that the push for YoY profits will continue squeezing gaming in the top. And the single player game is under attack by the live service market so that's a whole other beast. Overall, gaming is... Going through changes...

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella on the state of Xbox: "We've invested a lot for the last 25 years. We have to turn this into a sustainable business. The challenge we have is, we've not been monetizing that entertainment. In fact, we've been subsidizing that entertainment."

This is really rough to watch. Not a fan of people putting these intimate moments out there for views and clicks but things like this can also be catalysts to start some serious conversations. ๐Ÿ˜”
this has to be the worst feeling in the world๐Ÿ˜ญ

The comments in this post really highlight the dead internet theory to me. I think the bot to human ratio is like 50:1 ๐Ÿ˜ญ

I would've loved to hear the answer Booty gave Asha when she asked "why aren't our games as well received as the competition?"

It really was foul how we were all duped to work for Niantic to literally map the real world for them by playing Pokรฉmon GO so they can sell that data ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ

The Furious - This movie has the troupe Olympics of characters and motivations. ๐Ÿฅด - I either like a simple plot that's effective and to the point (The Raid) or something that adds a little more interesting elements along the way (Taken) for these types of movies. This has none of that. The plot would at times actively take away from my enjoyment of the movie. ๐Ÿฅด - There's A LOT to enjoy for action movie fans. ๐Ÿ˜ณ - Choreography has some fresh elements to it and the ground game was awesome. ๐Ÿ™Œ - Good flow of fights throughout the movie and the stars know how to put up a show! ๐Ÿค˜ - The climax battle was well worth the price of admission with constant escalation. ๐Ÿค— - Lives in the range of The Raid but doesn't reach those highs for me but some truly fantastic engagements nonetheless. ๐Ÿ‘Š IN IT FOR THE FIGHTS/10

- Placate fanbase by "listening" and bringing back exclusives (not all games ๐Ÿ™ƒ) - Migrate as many to PC as possible - Make cloud gaming "fetch" (stop trying to make cloud gaming happen) - Extend support for Series Console while making it heavier in cloud support (๐Ÿฅด) - Ads (๐Ÿฅด)
XBOX's new plan for turning the ship around seems confusing at best.

Not really in my nature to do the "but PlayStation!" thing but I remember when Sony was having trouble in its electronics division, PlayStation profits were used to help subsidize those underperforming areas. This isn't a unique phenomenon in business.
Activision Blizzard profits have been used to subsidize the underperforming parts of Xbox, says Windows Central Game Pass has also been used to subsidize other parts of the business โ–ถ๏ธ windowscentral.com/gaming/xbโ€ฆ

Akon reveals Middle Eastern royalty paid him $1 million for a private show "I can't say which family, but they booked me for a million dollars for a private event in the Middle East. 'My daughter's the biggest fan'. Okay, amazing. They set everything up, I had a dressing room with everything on my rider. Top notch." "The castle is so big I can't hear anything. They walk me to this huge hall with a monster stage, LED lights, lasers, everything. But there are only three chairs." "Three people came. The daughter, the son, and the wife. She's sitting in the middle just cheesing, can't wait. So we start singing Mr. Lonely. The song finishes and she goes, 'Again!' The whole hour, that's all we performed. Just Mr. Lonely on repeat."

I've always seen this as the natural play but the tricky part was getting the current Xbox base to stick around while they get things solid on PC. Helix looked to be the start of the merger but AI really screwed those plans up ๐Ÿฅด๐Ÿฅด๐Ÿฅด

I still find it funny that people didn't get this concept before. They'll tell you "but everyone is actually playing live service games! Only Nintendo fans buy exclusives!" yet the point remains that not everyone needs to buy every exclusive but having them as a reason matters.

The way people are against 3rd party exclusivity is funny to me. Competing doesn't require these companies to compete in the manner you envision. I'm not saying I like it but the practice did make me go multiplat outside of 1stP excl. Shoot, Hawkmoon made me play D1 on PS.

Instagram taught me that as long as there's some coherence, people will watch and enjoy AI content.
Lionsgate has taken an equity stake in AI company Runway They're now going to make AI-generated short-form shows with some of their franchises
