Craziest housing stat of the week: The state spends MORE today on housing than it did in 1976. The key difference: we used to build council houses, now we spend it on subsidising private landlords. Our housing system is completely broken.

The PM's pledge to “cut red tape” is a tired cliché that often means harming environmental standards and workers’ rights. We’ve had fourteen years of successive Conservative governments promising to “cut red tape” - what do we have to show for it? theguardian.com/business/liv…

My wife has ME - luckily now she is no longer suffering from severe symptoms - so I have some knowledge of the issues spoken about in this video, not sure I've seen anyone so clearly stating the issues before! Thanks @VladVexler ! youtu.be/cM2NCJBuwMc?si=fbEs…

We’re going to need to start creating a lot more wetlands and natural flood mitigation to deal with >3x average rainfall.
Another scale busting map! September rainfall for the UK. Huge variation but parts of southern England seeing over three & a half times their average rainfall. Incredibly Bedfordshire & Oxfordshire saw their wettest month (of any month) in at least 188 years.

This looks like it might be bigger than my whole house in London. Maybe a smaller (lighter) version would be better for the environment? Also, FYI, there is this car which uses a similar approach: mazda.co.uk/cars/mazda-mx-30…

Wow, the comments under this are mostly from idiots saying we should stop giving money to Ukraine and the like... When there are ways that aren't painful (in the real world) to help plug the gap - like rejoining the EU customs union. Plus Labour painted the hole with their rules.
The Conservatives crashed the economy and left a £22 billion black hole. Labour are taking the tough decisions now to fix the foundations, so we can rebuild Britain and make every part of the country better off.
