“To write for a Black family, you start asking yourself, ‘What am I doing?’ So we cast all Black actors for Gerald’s family — that helped with authenticity. Then we listened to Jamil, Gerald’s voice actor, loved his phrasing and pacing, and wrote more of what he brought. In the ’90s, we were doing our best just to show different ethnicities on screen, thinking it’d be cool for a kid to see Gerald and say, ‘Finally, a character that looks more like me.’ People tell me that now.”

Anybody can do it in their pjs, it's simply just doing a table read, blah, blah, etc. From an outside perspective, they don't understand how much goes into being a voice actor and mastering a performance and the craft. It irritates me when people mock this wonderful craft.

Nick Offerman and Megan Mullally have a rule about acting and marriage: They can never be apart from each other for more than two weeks.
“We spend a lot of time negotiating the logistics of our lives so that we simply stay married,” Offerman says. “We feel very lucky that we feel that way. After the first day or two, I think any couple would say, ‘Great, we could all use a breather.’ But then, in reality, you get to day three, and we just need to be together. So, when we get back together after two weeks, it’s a great relief. It’s coming out of the desert to a nice chug of water.”

By the way that Chicago Blues Festival last weekend was peak. Literally my first experience of the city. Came from the airport, dropped my bags & strolled through downtown on my own when I randomly saw this in Millennium Park.
Thousands of people having a chill picnic in the grass listening to this lovely gentleman playing his music. Absolute vibes. That‘s when I knew I was gonna enjoy my time here 😅
