A humanoid robot called Galbot G1, developed by Beijing Galaxy General Robot Co., is now in continuous daily operation at a FamilyMart store in Beijing's Zhongguancun tech district — the first time an intelligent robot has moved from demonstration into ongoing service at a global convenience store chain. The robot responds to voice commands, retrieves drinks and snacks, and handles items of varying shapes, temperatures, and packaging. Its performance is powered by the company's "AstraBrain" system, which the company describes as an end-to-end humanoid AI architecture integrating task planning, motion control, and dexterous manipulation. In logistics, Beijing-based Robot Era has deployed its M7 sorting robot across more than 10 logistics centers in five provinces, processing up to 1,200 parcels per hour with sorting efficiency reaching up to 90% of human-level performance in some scenarios. The company has secured roughly 1,000 unit orders and has partnerships with China Post and SF Express. The deployments are part of Beijing's broader three-year action plan to build an embodied AI industrial ecosystem with international influence by 2027, backed by China's 15th Five-Year Plan, which identifies robotics as one of eight strategic emerging sectors for accelerated development.
