You know it’s bad when it’s Day 2 of the world’s biggest sporting event and you already have to send your PR team to X to try and justify the empty stadiums 🤦🏻♂️ what an absolute disaster for the local football fans ⚽️
I’ve been to 3 World Cups (2006-2014) and each one was a massive success and sellout crowds, because prices were reasonable and priority given to locals for tickets. Bring to the US and it’s all about greed, corporate money, and maximizing profit. What a miss for FIFA this year, so glad I experienced the tournament during its prime years 🙏🏼
Official attendance figures reflect the number of tickets scanned and spectators present within the stadium footprint, rather than visual assessments of seating occupancy at any given moment during the match. FIFA works closely with stadium authorities and ticketing teams to ensure all published figures are based on verified operational data.
Please note that, during last night’s match in Guadalajara, several ticketed fans could be seen standing in concourses rather than staying in their assigned seats throughout the match.
