The inscription here is clearly in the Bengali script, not Odia. What's so very interesting is that the morphology of the Bengali script has hardly changed over the past 1300 years (or more).
It once again highlights that Mayurbhanja has historically been part of the Bengali cultural & linguistic sphere. It was wrongly merged with Odisha in 1949.

Inspired by such resolve, the West Bengal Police maintained continuous resistance. After several days, the better-equipped Pakistani forces were forced to withdraw. Char Rajanagar was saved.

A journalist from the newspaper Jugantar, who had gone to cover the conflict, quoted a police officer as saying:
"The higher authorities have provided enough men. Please tell them that we will not abandon this ground. Just send us water and ammunition."

When most people had given up hope of seeing them alive again, fellow constables arrived under cover of darkness, launched sustained fire against the Pakistani forces, and successfully rescued them, bringing them back to safety.

One particular incident deserves special mention. Three constables of the West Bengal Police continued to resist the enemy from a trench located within Indian territory, barely 250 yards from Pakistani positions.

Even in the absence of the Indian Army and while relying on fragile supply lines, the determination of every police officer to defend the homeland was evident.

The attack by Pakistani forces, emboldened by the Pak-US military alliance, had reached a peak. Sources indicated that between 9-13 March, Pakistani troops fired hundreds of thousands of rounds toward Indian territory.
