๐ป๐ณ ๐ฎ๐ท A friend in need is a friend indeed. Vietnam recently sent to Iran 60 tons of aid: rice, flour, instant noodles, fish sauce, sugar, seasonings, clothes for children and adults... The plane took off from Hanoi with security measures in place and landed without any problems. The order was given by Secretary General To Lam.
During the Iran-Iraq War (1980โ1988), Vietnam, which was under sanctions, continued to supply spare parts and technical support to Iran.
In return, the Iranians sent about 5 million barrels of crude oil to the Vietnamese Republic. Then, from 1993 to around 2016, the two countries had a "late payment" system: Vietnam sold rice, cement, steel, and other goods at a 10โ20% discount or on interest-free terms, and Iran supplied oil.
This is a quiet but constant example of mutual cooperation between two countries that needed each other when others refused to help and cooperate.
