🚨 BREAKING: ICE secretly deported Luis Leon, an 82-year-old torture survivor and U.S. legal resident of nearly 40 years, after he walked into an immigration office to replace a lost green card. Instead of processing the request, ICE handcuffed him, detained his wife for 10 hours, and later told the family; through a fake “lawyer,” that he was dead. Turns out, ICE quietly transferred him through a Minnesota detention center and dumped him in Guatemala, a country he has zero ties to. There’s no deportation paperwork, no public record. His family only found him alive after relatives in Chile tracked him to a Guatemalan hospital. Leon suffers from diabetes, high blood pressure, and heart issues. The DOJ is now under fire, but this is the Trump-era immigration machine still in motion—cruel, unaccountable, and lawless. If they can disappear an elderly, law-abiding U.S. resident… They can disappear anyone.

1. The DOGE website is garbage. The claimed savings has no relationship to the data provided. And the data that is provided grossly inflates the savings from each canceled contract. So we just launched our own site — the Musk Watch DOGE Tracker — that breaks everything down

Glad you asked. Since February 24, 1803.
An Obama-appointed judge just threatened Trump with arrest if he doesn’t restore every dime of paused funding. Since when does a judge have the power to override the President like this? 🤔🔥

Not that it matters with a GOP trifecta, but Puerto Rico just decisively voted for statehood *again* with an absolute majority in a three-option race. Puerto Rico has more people than 22 states, all of them are US citizens, and yet it's completely left out to dry.

To me, the most infuriating part of people’s decline in media literacy is the increasingly common wholesale abandonment of the entire concept of subtext — whether it’s in fiction, nonfiction, or even everyday life. You analyze the implications and get accused of making stuff up.

Yesterday Trump announced he's nominating Pete Hegseth as his Secretary of Defense. Hegseth's a prominent Fox News personality & veterans advocate, but he also has strong ties to the Christian far right that I've not seen fully exposed yet. Here's a thread w/ receipts... 1/

can't say im a bit fan of the increasing pathologization of totally standard behaviours where medical terms are wrenched out of context to now all refer to You, God's Most Precious Angel And Incredibly Smart Gifted Child Who Is SO Brave
If you were a big reader as a kid, you were disassociating.
Community note
While, technically, being deeply engrossed in reading is an example of mild dissociation, this incorrectly applies the psychological context of coping with stress/trauma or struggling with psychosis. Pathologising normal behaviour is trivialising to those with real disorders. wikipedia.org/wiki/Dissociat…

Governor Andy Beshear, in a Trump 30 state, gives advice to Democrats: Do not throw LGBTQ people under the bus, it will not work. His advice to dems: Lead on your values. This man ran on a fully inclusive campaign in 2023 and won. He received the same kind of ads Harris did.

the gavin newsom viral tweets can be funny and all but the things this man has done to the unhoused people in california is absolute evil. he even destroyed what little property some of them had with his own hands. it’s horrific and i don’t want him gaining traction for president
