Back in March, we had the honor of supporting the Cook County Special Olympics—and we’re so excited to share this incredible moment. 💙 Kyle Watkins, who helped organize Georgia Power’s support, stated, “We want to show that Georgia Power cares for not just the power, but we care about the community.” For many of these athletes, this event is the highlight of their year. It’s a day filled with teamwork, courage, and joy—and we’re honored to be part of it. Cook County school organizer Emme Watkins added, “They get to play with a team, and they get to win. They get to be courageous, and they get to all come together and play sports. They love it.” Our team donated $2,000 to help provide lunch and essential items for every athlete, and we showed up in full force—helping run games, cheering on teams, and even having our linemen step in as coaches. And for our volunteers, the impact is personal. Georgia Power’s Indira Stephens said, “The Special Olympics has a special place in my heart… anytime we can highlight our athletes we try to do so.” We’re proud to support these amazing athletes and can’t wait to cheer them on again. 👏 #CommunityStrong #SpecialOlympics #GeorgiaPower

Earlier this year, @GeorgiaPower awarded the Rose City Royals, an 8U softball team from Thomasville, a $2,000 grant from its Power Her Dreams grant program. This grant will go towards equipment and other items for the team. The Royals were recognized at the @UGASoftball game on May 2. #GoDawgs

Honoring Service. Celebrating Legacy. We’re proud to share the story of Jim Rittenhouse — a Georgia Power retiree, World War II veteran, and remarkable leader whose legacy continues to inspire. At just 18 years old, Jim enlisted in the U.S. Army and served on the front lines in Europe during World War II. After being wounded in action, he was awarded the Purple Heart before returning home and continuing his service to others in a new way. Jim went on to spend 38 years with Georgia Power, rising to Vice President of the East Metro division and helping lead through a period of rapid growth in the Atlanta region. Along the way, he built strong teams, supported customers, and embodied the values that continue to guide our work today. Now, at 100 years old, Jim remains a proud veteran and active member of his community — a powerful reminder of the lasting impact service can have, both in uniform and beyond. We’re honored to share Jim’s story and celebrate the legacy of service he represents.

While the wildfires are mostly contained in South Georgia, their effects will last. We wanted to take a moment to share where our Brantley County neighbors can find help—whether it’s housing, food and toiletries, or simply a hot meal. We are honored to have the opportunity to be on the ground with Family Connections to support their mission, both through volunteers and a $10,000 donation. Across the affected counties, we have also contributed an additional $25,000 to support our neighbors during this time. If you or anyone you know has been affected by the Georgia wildfires, please know that help is available. We are here to connect you with the organizations working on the ground to provide support.

A meaningful career pathway starts with hands-on opportunity. 🤝 Through our partnership with Gwinnett Technical College and Gwinnett County Public Schools, 11 students completed forklift training and earned their certification. 👏 “This program is a powerful example of what can happen when industry and education come together with a shared purpose,” said Andre Person, Workforce Development Coordinator. He continued, “This is what workforce development looks like: connecting students directly to hands-on training and building a skilled, job‑ready pipeline for our communities.” 💡🔧 We’re proud to support the continued development of our neighbors and help create real opportunities across our community. 🌟 #WorkforceDevelopment #HandsOnLearning #Partnership @GwinnettSchools

We’re proud to partner with @MOWAtlanta to serve our community. 💙 We support funding, grants, and employee volunteerism, for senior nutrition across Georgia. Last week our electric vehicle transportation team delivered over 150 nutritious meals to homebound seniors in Atlanta. 🚚🍽️ You never know the conditions these individuals are living in or what they may be going through, so using electric vehicles helps provide a quieter, more comfortable delivery experience while also reducing emissions.

It’s official! 🥳 Thanks to a historic loan from the U.S. Department of Energy to Southern Company, we’re expanding and enhancing our diverse generation mix—and Plant Wansley is a big part of what’s next. A look back 👉 Plant Wansley began commercial operation in 1976 and, for decades, safely and reliably powered homes, businesses, and communities across Georgia. Since we retired our units there 2022, many of our neighbors and friends have asked what’s next? We’re launching Plant Wansley’s next chapter with: ✅ 1,453 MW of new natural gas generation ✅ 500 MW of battery storage Plant Wansley is just one example of broader investments happening across the state. Over the coming years, we are adding more than 10,000 megawatts of new generation to deliver the baseload power, reliability, and resiliency our customers expect—today and in the future. ⚡ The future of energy in Georgia is being built—starting here. ⚙️ @ENERGY @SouthernCompany
