ALT Post on Reddit r/Autism - Title: UK Parents: don't get yourself diagnosed as Autistic.
The First three paragraphs are as followed:
I don't think this is talked about enough in Autistic spaces. Everything is about the affirmation and validation you receive once you are finally diagnosed as Autistic. There is nothing that talks about the impact that has on your family.
As soon as I was diagnosed I was reported to Social Services.
The reason? Because I am a parent and diagnosed Autistic. The UK government wants all newly diagnosed parents to be assessed for their "capabilities to parent". This investigation often gets labeled up as "emotional abuse", because of the stereotype that Autistic people have no empathy.

I genuinely can't wait for functional smart glasses, and I cannot deny that a lot of impressive tech is in the Vision Pro - but - if you spend Three And A Half Thousand Dollars on this you are a mug.
I think that most of the weird stuff that's claimed to be therapeutic or meditative isn't, you've just got yourself interested in and excited about something new and now you feel better.
Like I love that for you but stop trying to get me to keep bees you know? Those rocks aren't magic, the stars haven't aligned, and that colouring book is just a colouring book. You just think it's fun and that's helping and that's good enough.
Oh also I'm not talking about folks infodumping here, big fan of that, I'm talking about folks who say "you should try (my new hobby)" as if it's a solution to literally everything
