🇯🇵🇮🇹 Japanese PM Sanae Takaichi and Italian PM Giorgia Meloni agreed to deepen cooperation on critical minerals, semiconductors, advanced technologies, energy security, and space.
The two leaders reaffirmed support for a Free and Open Indo-Pacific, discussed East Asian security, and agreed to accelerate the Japan–UK–Italy GCAP next-generation fighter jet program.
They also coordinated on restoring freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz following the U.S.–Iran ceasefire announcement.

JUST IN: 🇯🇵🇮🇹 Japanese PM Sanae Takaichi held bilateral talks with Italian PM Giorgia Meloni, reaffirming Italy as a "Special Strategic Partner" of Japan.
The leaders agreed to deepen cooperation in economic security, energy, space, science and technology, and defence, including acceleration of the Japan–Italy–UK GCAP fighter jet program.
Several agreements were announced on space cooperation, supply chain resilience, and research collaboration, alongside major infrastructure-linked economic projects.
The talks also covered regional issues in the Middle East and East Asia, with both sides committing to continued diplomatic coordination for stability and peace.
