The 19th Army Corps is using photos of 18-year-old Diana, who has signed a military contract, to recruit young women into the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
I don't know about you, but when I look at her face, I don't see a warrior. I see a child — a painfully young, naive face that evokes sadness, pity, and heartbreak rather than admiration.
Recruitment campaigns want us to see courage, duty, and patriotism. What I see instead is yet another teenager standing at the edge of a war that has already consumed far too many young lives.
