I’m overwhelmed by the incredible turnout and support we received for Bay Ridge Earth Day. This is the best neighborhood on Earth. Thank you all 💚

Staten Island congresswoman defunds Staten Island Railway to own the libs
Apparently, Nicole Malliotakis is going to try to pass a Congressional law to deny the MTA federal funding if they allow Congestion Pricing to take effect. Nice to know that she could have passed laws affecting MTA funding this whole time, but chose not to!

Today marks 4 years since our group was founded! We started with a handful of concerned residents who knew nothing about environmental activism. We've been so thankful to watch our group grow over these past 4 years, and are thankful to all of you for following along with us!

After a disheartening week it was great to see so many old and new faces coming together. Together, we’re going to get through these next four years the same way we did last time. We’re going to build a better Bay Ridge, NYC, and America
Standing-room only at @BayRidgeDems tonight. Our club was built for moments like this. Don't mourn, organize!

I’ll always remember when Yazan helped track down almost a dozen of my wedding invitations that had gotten lost in the mail. He was such a wonderful man, and he’ll be missed deeply
How very sad. Yazan was my mailman. Whenever I'd see him on my block he always had an exuberant smile on his face. Sending prayers to his family and loved ones. Please consider supporting them if you are in a position to do so: gofundme.com/f/support-yazan… brooklynpaper.com/bay-ridge-…

Marco Rubio, Trump’s Secretary of State pick, explicitly said yesterday that he would NOT call for a ceasefire in Gaza. Great job to all the protest voters who snubbed Harris over Israel - you guys are really playing 6D chess here.

We’re having wildfires in November because of a historically dry October. Our country just voted for this to continue happening. One of the MANY things Democrats need to do going forward is stop shying away from bold policies that will help our climate. The stakes are too high

"The Democratic Party has moved too far left" No it hasn't and last time it actually did move significantly leftwards Americans liked it so much they gave the president 4 terms. You need universal programs. You need to tax the rich. You need to boldly lean into class warfare.

Right now, we all need to find our people. @B_R_E_G_ will be here today, tomorrow, and next year for anybody looking to put a little more good into the world
Now, more than ever, community is the key to everything. We will still be here to lift each other up however we can. We love you, our neighborhood, and our planet 💚

Very important context. We’re living in an era of global backlash against the current system This doesn’t change that half the country voted for a racist wannabe dictator. But we have to see the problem and get serious about it FAST if we want to preserve any of our institutions
We’re going to hear lots of stories about which people, policies and rhetoric are to blame for the Democrats’ defeat. Some of those stories may even be true! But an underrated factor is that 2024 was an absolutely horrendous year for incumbents around the world 👇

Institute. Fucking. Congestion pricing. Stop bowing to Trump. Fight for what is right. That is the only way we will ever have a chance
Gov. Hochul calls on Trump to fund the MTA, the Hudson River rail tunnel and the Second Avenue subway. She says she'll work with him on those issues, but if he tries to hurt New Yorkers: "I will fight you every step of the way."

“I wish it need not have happened in my time,” said Frodo.  “So do I,” said Gandalf, “and so do all who live to see such times.  But that is not for them to decide.  All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.”

Many of our friends and neighbors are living in a country today where their very existence is at risk. I’ll never understand that pain personally, but want you to know: I see you, I love you, and I will fight for you every single day. We will get through this together ❤️

I’ve seen some comments to this effect, and they’re the *only* ones giving me hope right now: We will start to make this right through community. By supporting and being present for each other. It will take a revolution to undo the damage of this election. But it starts there

To this day I’ll never understand why Trump was not arrested for January 6th the MOMENT he was no longer President. Republicans only respond to power. We failed to use it at one of the most critical moments in our nation’s history.

I am gutted beyond words. There is so much evil in this country. We will get through it together. I don’t know how. But somehow, someday, we will.

What I’m feeling right now: In 2016, I was 20 years old. It was my first presidential election. But on that night, I saw the worst of America triumph. The vast majority of my adult life has been spent living with and processing that night. Tonight, I pray that it all ends.

Tonight, I pray that the shadow of 2016 is finally lifted. Our country will never be perfect, and the forces that put Trump in power will still be present. But tonight, I hope we can turn the page to a new chapter.

Tonight, I hope we can begin to finally build a country where the dignity and autonomy of all Americans is respected. Where our planet is cared for, and our democracy is secure. I hope that after tonight, my country can finally, FINALLY, breathe a sigh of relief.
