Accessibility is a more nuanced concept because it all depends on WHO we want to make it accessible for. Rarely is there one solution that works for everybody. A common refrain amongst science communicators is to “think about your audience”.

Here, the art doesn’t add much information (it may even distort the science) but hopefully,it gets our audience more excited about science. Sometimes making science more accessible may mean simply making it less pedantic,so people are willing to engage with it in the first place.

Sex or survival—what’s more important? Excited to share our @Nature paper on how flies resolve this conflict.
We found a dopamine-based filter that reduces threat perception, helping flies focus on courtship when close to mating.

Currently a big part of the theory I like to cover feeds on the Points of View article series (mostly from @bangwong and @MKrzywinski) I recommend it to any starting scientist. (🙏@RibeiroCarlitos for introducing it) Now this book will bring in some new juicy ideas to my classes.
