"Video games are art" is a massive negative for video games overall.
Games *contain* art. The music, the visuals, level/world design, narrative/story, etc. The actual gameplay is and should be a finely-engineered machine. Too many games end up being a medium for a message first and an actual game second, third, fourth, or sometimes not at all.
