Thierry Henry on Lionel Messi becoming the oldest player ever to score a World Cup hat-trick and the player with the most goals from outside the box in World Cup history: 🗣️ “I honestly don't know what more there is left to say about Lionel Messi anymore. Every time you think he has reached the top of the mountain, he somehow finds another peak that nobody else has ever climbed before.” “The oldest player to score a World Cup hat-trick. Just stop and think about that for a second. At an age when most players are retired, coaching, or sitting in television studios, Messi is still breaking records on the biggest stage in football.” “And it's not just the hat-trick that amazes me. He now has more World Cup goals from outside the box than anyone in history. That tells you everything about the level of technique, vision, and confidence we are talking about.” “These are not lucky goals. These are moments of genius. The type of goals where everyone in the stadium knows what he wants to do, but nobody can stop him from doing it anyway.” “What makes this even more incredible is that this is his sixth World Cup. Six World Cups. Different generations, different teammates, different opponents, yet the same outcome every single time Lionel Messi deciding matches.” “People always ask what makes certain players special. Well, special players break records. Legends create records. Messi is doing both at the same time while carrying the expectations of an entire nation.” “I've played against some of the greatest footballers in history, I've watched some of the greatest footballers in history, but what Messi continues to do at 38 years old simply doesn't make sense.” “This is no longer about talent. This is no longer about numbers. This is football history unfolding right before our eyes, and every single match feels like another chapter in a story that nobody thought was possible.”

hoooo boy. as a lifelong U.S. Soccer fan, THIS from Pochettino spoke to me (especially in relation to this particular group)
Pochettino: Many methods are copied. They set up soccer schools in the US & tell kids: ‘Pass the ball from here to there, go back and shoot when you get there.’ That’s not soccer. When we learn, when we relate to the game, it’s with absolute freedom 👇🏼 english.elpais.com/sports/20…

It was one of the best games of the tournament btw
Si hay un partido que nos podemos perder es este, debes estar totalmente enfermo si te vas a ver un Irán vs Nueva Zelanda

The Venn diagram of people who were happy we traded Kawhi for DeRozan and people who were happy we traded for Fox is a perfect circle

I don’t trust anyone who thinks it’s cool to just run Fox back out there like nothing happened

Replying to @foxone
@foxone fix your video clips man. Anybody watching the full replay of civ vs Ecuador is left on a cliffhanger with no idea how the game ends. Is it too much to ask that you show the final whistle?? This is pathetic

Thankful for @peacock and @Telemundo who understand the importance of the final whistle

nate’s right. soooo how about trading him in the offseason?
Everyone saying bench Fox: you realize that means you’re basically deciding to trade him in the offseason? Because there’s no coming back from that with a player of his status. It ain’t that simple. Spurs invested in and believe in him! They’re gonna ride with him.

like I stated in my recent video. I didn’t watch the game tonight because De’Aaron Fox ruined the series for me. But I just saw the final score and let me guess how this game went. (Tell me if I’m wrong in the comments.) Spurs blew another double digit lead and Fox was horrendous down the stretch. That is all

It surprised me too.
Wemby on what surprised him: "It surprised me that every game has the same scenario, every five games in the series have the same scenario, and how relentless we were in our mistakes, and they were in punishing them."

I defended Mitch all season but if he needs to be the sacrificial lamb for us to get rid of Fox, so be it. I do NOT want a Fox on my team next year, at all cost Brian wright must act

53.6M 57.4M 61.4M This is what De’Aaron Fox is going to be paid over the next 3 seasons. He just averaged 12.8 PTS on 43.0 TS% in the finals. I wouldn’t let him step foot in that city in a Spurs jersey EVER again.

This is where I’m at as well. Psychologically this team needs to move on from Fox they can’t bring him back next season
Replying to @SpursLegion
The Spurs NEED to trade Fox for Michael Porter Jr in the offseason or pick up a PF who can make 2-3 3s per game at a 35 % clip and provide Wemby some help with interior defense. But, I honestly don’t care if the give up multiple 1st round picks to just dump Fox’s salary and get nothing in return other than matching expiring contracts!

One day I’ll reflect and appreciate what this team has done this season. Right now I’m too pissed at our max guy for his “clutch” performances in the finals
