URA Statement | ECHR Grand Chamber Judgment in Yasak v. Türkiye
European Court of Human Rights Grand Chamber has delivered its judgment in Yasak v. Türkiye, finding violations of both Article 3 and Article 7 of the European Convention on Human Rights.
Following the Yüksel Yalçınkaya v. Türkiye judgment, the Yasak decision represents another important development in ongoing discussions concerning the application of universal legal principles, proportionality, foreseeability, and individual criminal responsibility.
We believe that the consistent implementation of international human rights obligations is not only important for Türkiye, but for all democratic societies committed to justice, accountability, and human dignity.
