It is no exaggeration to say that some students are at serious risk of having no home and no employment (and therefore having to drop out, or worse) because of bad management (2/3)
I’m a 3rd year undergrad at @UniofOxford, and part of possibly the most disrupted uni year group in recent times, studying throughout a global pandemic, multiple lockdowns, and now a cost of living crisis.
But guess what? I support the @UCU strikes wholeheartedly. Here’s why. 1/
College is emailing students to remind them of the deadline to accept their claim. Wording of said email doesn't mention complaints status, or that students will still be eligible for their award if their complaint is unsuccessful past the current deadline (1/4)
The College has at no point made the process clear to students and has constantly shifted its deadline. Comms should have stated that offers would remain post the deadline if complaints were submitted and not upheld. Something only confirmed by them after chasing (3/4)
Students in need or or wishing to accept their offer should 100% do so, but to be clear, if you have made a complaint you do not need to accept this offer now. It will be there for you later. (4/4)
Vindicated & reinstated. 115 days later and thanks to amazing solidarity from around the world, Goldsmiths has confirmed that there is "no case to answer" against me & @gkhiabany for doing our job & supporting our students. Off to the pub now...
🔥More incredible work from @GoldsmithsSU. They have taken the initiative to write a meticulous, evidence-based audit, which exposes how students have been failed by @FCorner's restructure. This is a must read, especially for members of Council who rubber-stamped everything.
The College’s centralisation has had disastrous impact. There has been no accountability, so here’s us spoon-feeding the College once again; this time, in the only language they can understand. Read now: goldsmithssu.org/news/articl…

We conducted a Performance Audit Report that details the operational failure on different fronts and how it has dangerous legal implications and is in breach of an actual positive and fair student experience. It’s an extensive report written with and through student feedback, testimony and surveys.

"We find material and ideological weaknesses to the management and operations of the College that (1) threaten the offered student experience and (2) place the intellectual purpose of the institution at risk." 🔥 from @GoldsmithsSU and 🫢 (embarrassing) for @GoldsmithsUoL

"such automated technologies mask, under the glossy veneer of algorithms, the fact that these monitoring practices are deeply racist. Predictive algorithms have been shown to entrench racist bias in policing..." @GoldsmithsSU@GoldsmithsCS@GoldFeesStrike

18.45 Friday students start recieving apologetic emails re enrollment. 2 working days for processing, taking us into midway through the 1st week, and then 'wait to hear' on optional modules. If we miss (at least) the first week you gunna give us a discount @GoldsmithsUoL?
4pm Friday and students still don't know what classes they have on Monday morning, or what classes they have full stop. What's the deal @GoldsmithsUoL@FCorner, restructure not working out for you?
