The speaker and participants in a webinar I'm on are sharing the names of indigenous communities that once lived on the land where they are now. Not sure if it's a thing I've just missed until now, but it's the first time I've seen it and it's interesting. #E4CSeminarSeries

Hadn't considered the quantity of greenhouse gases produced by water infrastructure, but it's pretty high. 10% of all GHG, I think, according to @AustinPriceAlex at @xyleminc just now at #IE2021

Didn't know this was a thing but I'm hearing it now: poetry about sustainable global development. With singing. Actually better than I would have thought. By Severin Blake at Applied Mechanics Theatre Company during #IE2021

The Moderna vaccine was paid for by US taxpayers. Not sharing it puts us at risk if even more dangerous variants emerge. mRNA technology is our insurance policy against variants and production failures, and it can produce large numbers of vaccines.

Bull semen could fight COVID in India. That's a line I was dying to tweet for obvious reasons, and its explanation is that the cold chain keeping the semen viable for insemination could be repurposed for vaccines. Here's the article - qz.com/1944343/indias-bull-s…

"I've never worn a hardhat, except to go rockclimbing" - @tanjarosenqvist, an engineer at @RMIT, on the screenful of white men in yellow hardhats that pop up when you google image search the word "engineer."

A professional culture that allows for this kind of experience and training should be the goal everywhere => Engineers in Australia can opt to leave their employment for one year to work overseas in an emerging economy - Nick Brown, @RMIT in #E4CSeminarSeries

"Good to hear we're not trying to replace all farmers with robots" is definitely the kind of comment I would have expected to hear in 2020 back when I was 7. Overheard by @DaniNierenberg while interviewing Rizwan Majeed now - facebook.com/TheFoodTank/vid…

I always like the Q&A sessions at the end of these seminars. They kind of feel like discussions with a professor after class is out. Which was sort of one of the goals of this thing in the first place. #E4CSeminarSeries

People in sanitation somehow don't get tired of poop jokes. But I guess since I'm covering the topic, listening to them is my... doody. Overheard just now in a webinar - "Always exciting to see so many people as pumped about shit as I am" - Emily Woods @Sanivation #E4CWebinars

I hadn't realized that hospitals were so active in encouraging the manufacture of PPE by non-traditional organizations like universities. On March 20, 3 hospitals contacted Brian Slocum @LehighU to request their help to manufacture PPE. #E4CWebinars

My take on Q6 is a big benefit of membership is the access to thought leaders in the technology for global development sector. Members have the right to participate in online events and interact with the biggest names in this (very compact) field. #Innovate4Impact

COIVD-19 will prepare us for the next pandemic. But there's no 2nd chance when it comes to climate change. It’s not as if we can let the ice sheets melt this time and protect them better when they return. We’ve got one shot at this crisis. - @ChuckKutscher medium.com/@chuck.kutscher/t…

The lab is the bogeyman on this panel.
The same disconnect between engineering curriculum and skills needed on the job exists in the US. Kenya, and India according to our panelists. #COWASH2020
