Strong dislike: "we don't need 'academic' topics like graphs." Objects form graphs; manipulating objects is thinking about graphs. Module imports and function calls form graphs. The ordering dependencies between your code changes over time form a graph. Everything is graphs.

The WireViz graph generator is working.
A Python-based generator outputs a GraphViz file that can be rendered into beautiful SVG and PNG images. In the future, a parser / GraphViz extension will make documenting wiring harnesses even easier.
