Devon County Council has a standing policy of no cycle lanes on Exeter's arterial roads. So people riding bikes have to wend their way through back streets. It's time that changed.

Cycling takes up less road space than driving a car, meaning it can ease congestion for those who need to travel by car. The AA is right that well-designed cycling infrastructure is a pro-motorist policy. telegraph.co.uk/news/2022/10…

A very important legal challenge to the government's cuts to active travel funding has their High Court hearing on 30 April – but need more funding

Of all the funding streams available to Exeter/Devon – Levelling Up, Towns Fund, Shared Prosperity etc. etc. – we're using money from the Active Travel Fund to replace a single old wooden bridge. I'm sure it will make a huge difference to Exeter's CO₂ emissions. 🤦.

Exeter City Council have known since 2016 (when food waste collections were first "promised"); why oh why has it taken *eight* years to seek fund expanding the long out-dated material reclamation facility in Marsh Barton a devonlive.com/news/devon-new…

Oh of course I do actually know, all the previous community infrastructure fund money was spent on Pete's Pool, by far the most expensive 25 m swimming pool in the country 🤦

If people in Exeter were truly worried about air pollution they'd be campaigning for a Clean Air Zone, because that's what works. gov.uk/guidance/driving-in-a…

The bold action we've taken in London to clean up our toxic air is working. Together we’ve cut harmful roadside nitrogen dioxide pollution in half & achieved the lowest annual levels on record. Everyone deserves clean air - and London is leading the way. theguardian.com/environment/…

Common sense would be to send out NIPs to as many op snap submissions of drivers breaking the law by driving through bus gates as possible so the message isn't "you can break the law when you feel like it" which rapidly becomes I'll do 40 in 30 zones, I'll have one more drink etc

Like many other law-breakers, dangerous drivers often begin by committing "low" level infringements, before ignoring even more rules and becoming even more dangerous. Will @DC_Police begin enforcing the AST bus gates in Exeter, @Adrianleisk? They're routinely abused
Replying to @DC_PCC
After a question from a member of the public the Commissioner updates the panel on progress against her police and crime plan priorities of reducing violent crime, antisocial behaviour, dangerous driving and drugs, and explains budget proposals for 2024-25.

giving drivers the sense that there is no consequence for them. A bus gate driven through here, 40 in a 30 there, maybe I'll have one more pint before driving home...

81mph at #Exeter Airport No2 a record for the site which opened in the early 1990s, and the 3rd strongest at Exeter Airport overall (including the original ob site). Only 83mph on 28/02/1990 and 85mph on 25/01/1990 (Burns Day Storm) were stronger. #StormHenk

Meanwhile in Exeter we can't have any bike hangars at all from @DevonCC #WhyCantDevonHaveNiceThings
It’s wonderful to see the arrival of the first cycle hangar in the country that’s available for local residents who have cargo/adapted cycles. Well done @CityWestminster 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Times are a changing!!

I've lived in Exeter for 15 years and only just realised that the pavement of Frog 🐸 Street opposite Tudor Street is A SPIRAL!!

So the only way to walk from Commercial Road to Bonhay Road is to take massive detours to up Western Way or down and along the Exe, cross New Bridge Street with no crossing or drop kerb, or take the subways and this dodgy path under New Bridge Street

I did however find this dinky little shared path from the northeast end of the old bridge, across the Frog Street turnbacks, and up to the Western Way Puffin crossing. I can't think this ever used. Exeter's transport infrastructure is MAD
