I have a lot of fun doing play-by-play, and 2025 was very enjoyable I was privileged to call another Stonehouse Cup final at the end of the PJHL season, as well as some JPHL action (including eventual 3rd overall WHL pick Liam Pue). Also some bonus UBC Baseball in the summer!

Letting hundreds of small, low-visibility vehicles rip around town at 25km/h and stopping at 40% of lights/stops signs has certainly added a unique wrinkle to driving in modern downtown cores

So sad. Nick was the loveable heart of the Surrey Eagles 😢 When I worked there, my "office" was basically in the equipment room. I never had to do any research when Nick was around, because he knew every detail about every player from every season. RIP Big Nick.
It is with profound sadness that the Surrey Eagles announce the sudden passing of Nick Johnston, known by so many as ‘Big Nick.’ Nick was a cherished member of the Surrey Eagles family and, to many, the heart and soul of the Surrey Eagles. His impact extended far beyond the rink. His unwavering dedication, generous spirit, and larger-than-life personality touched countless players, coaches, staff, volunteers, and fans throughout the years. Whether offering support, sharing a laugh, or lending a helping hand, Nick made everyone around him feel valued and welcomed. The loss of Big Nick leaves a void that cannot be filled, but his legacy will live on through the countless lives he influenced and the memories he helped create within our organization and community. Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with Nick’s family, friends, and all those mourning this heartbreaking loss. We are grateful for the time we shared with him and for the lasting mark he leaves on the Surrey Eagles. Rest easy, Big Nick. You will always be a part of the Surrey Eagles family and will never be forgotten.

This happened in a Jays game last week and everyone was similarly as confused. A ball that bounces then hits the netting is apparently live and in-play.
HOW was this not ruled a ground rule double for Ohtani?

Thanks for the 20 years, here's an AI-designed shirt (Check out how bad the rings look)
The 🇨🇦 players came to the rink today wearing shirts honoring massage therapist Andy Hüppi -- a beloved figure inside the Canadian program. Hüppi is working his 20th world championship for Canada and plans to retire afterwards.

The reason people like this kind of stuff (fun t-shirts honouring them) is because it takes time and effort to pull off. That's what makes it meaningful and endearing. Slapping something together by typing a prompt uploading an existing pic is the antithesis of this.

Classic Ottawa: Vezina-level goaltending, but lifeless offence. Wait a minute
Linus Ullmark's playoff performance: Game 1 | .933 SV%, 2.94 GSAx Game 2 | .939 SV%, 2.11 GSAx Game 3 | .926 SV%, 2.14 GSAx Game 4 | .929 SV%, 0.97 GSAx Sens scored 5 total goals and got swept. I'm not even sure how that's possible with this level of goaltending.

Thank you Dave for clarifying (even if it ruins the fun) Now I want to see simultaneous penalty shot calls, with the second penalty shot hinging on the result of the first

A team scoring on their own net would end the game, Greg. Everything else would be negated. I don't have the rule number but it specifically states 'THAT ONLY ONE GOAL CAN BE SCORED ON ANY STOPPAGE' Game Over!

If Carolina scored on their own net during the delayed penalty, it would have led to my favourite yet-to-happen hockey moment: An OT goal that doesn’t immediately end the game. By the rulebook, Carolina would still get a chance to shoot even if they scored on their own net.

WHAT A SEQUENCE IN RALEIGH AS WE HEAD TO A SECOND OVERTIME 🤯 The Hurricanes thought they had won in overtime, but the play was deemed offside. Jordan Martinook was awarded a penalty shot on the play, but failed to score.

Pretty sad that this needs to be stated
Again, the NHL rule is not "you can skate directly towards the crease at full speed and if anyone even brushes you then the goalie is fair game".
