Tbh what actually makes me mad about the "can you call yourself a fan of a game you've never played" discourse is really just that people want to be part of a fandom more than they care about the thing itself, and I think that's kind of an awful way to approach art
Vanillaware founder George Kamitani - wants to put their other games on PC (Unicorn Overlord, 13 Sentinels, Dragon's Crown, etc.) but says it's up to the publisher to finance the ports

To people who arent familiar with ghost in the shell:
Yes, you can watch the 2026 GITS anime as your first GITS. You can pretty much begin from anywhere since they are all standalone. Each of the GITS anime are created by diff creatives with their interpretations of the work.
Imagine if there were countless thousands of “Robocop fans” who say the original is “outdated” and the remake is the “real movie” because it has “better CGI graphics” and when you ask why they like that movie they admit they just saw highlights of it on tiktok. Thats “gamers” now
There are people out there that seriously think remakes aren’t an inherently derivative genre of game and wouldn’t invite comparisons to the original when they literally would not exist in the first place without the OG game.
every time an UE remake comes out the lighting and colors are totally fucked up and diff to the og game and idk if thats the fault of UE, devs, execs, or all 3 but it sucks dude
