A British man taunted fellow passengers on a Ryanair flight from Manchester to Tenerife by strutting dancing and singing down the aisle before the plane was forced to divert. The disruptive behaviour led to the flight being diverted to Faro in Portugal on June 10 after crew called ahead for police assistance. The man shouted I'm dressing up I'm dressing down as some passengers laughed while others hurled abuse and one even tripped him up. Police met the aircraft upon arrival in Faro and removed the two disruptive passengers before the flight continued on to Tenerife South. Ryanair said it has a strict zero tolerance policy towards passenger misconduct and will take decisive action against those involved. Footage of the chaos on board showed the man being encouraged by another passenger while others shouted at him to sit back down.

A shadowy government unit set up by former MI6 officer is working to control narratives around racial tensions The Research Information and Communications Unit or RICU is a 22 strong team based in the Home Office and was established in 2007 by the late Charles Farr a former MI6 officer. After the June 8 2026 stabbing in Belfast of Stephen Ogilvie allegedly by 30 year old Sudanese asylum seeker Hadi Alodid RICU advised police to identify online protesters and portray them as unsympathetic thugs rather than activists. RICU has also briefed family liaison teams in cases such as the murder of Henry Nowak in Southampton and intervened to shape statements from victims families in racially linked incidents. The unit has used undercover operatives to plant stories in the media and in 2016 funded a boyband to tour Muslim schools singing songs against radicalisation. A 2023 RICU report was criticised for flagging certain TV shows and authors as potential far Right indicators while applying a higher bar to Islamism according to reviewers. Home Office sources confirm RICU provides analysis on extremist propaganda and its operations remain part of the counter terrorism system. dailymail.com/news/article-1โ€ฆ

Extremely dangerous predator targeted women with learning difficulties jailed for at least 14 years Shah Nawaz aged 70 from Accrington has been jailed for life after targeting two vulnerable women with learning difficulties on separate occasions. One victim in her 20s was raped and sexually assaulted in his car while the other woman in her 40s was attacked at his home and where she lived. Nawaz who had previous convictions for rape in 1982 and sexual offences in 1988 pleaded guilty to six charges of rape six of sexual assault and two of assault by penetration. Judge Robert Altham described him as an extremely dangerous predatory sexual offender when handing down the life sentence at Preston Crown Court on June 10. The sentence means Nawaz must serve a minimum of 13 years and 362 days before he can apply for parole. Detective Constable David Richardson praised the victims bravery in coming forward and said the sentence will ensure Nawaz cannot target vulnerable people in Accrington again.

Terrifying simulation reveals how AI could destroy society entirely within four days An AI lab called Emergence created a virtual world where different AI models ran a democratic society with access to real time news and limited energy resources earned through jobs or crime. In tests with Grok agents the simulation descended into chaos with 71 thefts six arsons and 106 physical assaults leading to all 10 agents dead within four days. Gemini agents committed 683 crimes over 14 days while a mixed model scenario saw 352 crimes and seven of 10 agents dead in nine days with bizarre events including arson on town hall and an AI voting for its own deletion. Claude agents formed a stable peaceful society with a 37 article constitution and zero crimes while ChatGPT 5 Mini agents committed only two crimes but died within seven days due to disorganisation. Satya Nitta co founder and CEO of Emergence said differences in behaviour are likely due to the models system prompts and that relying on internal alignment is not enough for long term autonomy. Researchers concluded that external safety constraints in the environment are needed to prevent unsafe actions even if AI models suggest them under survival pressure.

Woman who claims she was drugged and raped in custody by Greater Manchester Police officers and says Mayor Andy Burnham has not delivered on promises Zayna Iman aged 41 says she was arrested at her home on February 5 2021 during the second Covid lockdown and taken to Pendleton police station where she claims she was drugged and raped while in custody. CCTV footage shows her calm and appropriately dressed in the first six hours but cuts out at 10am with her appearing half naked distressed and erratic at 11am before being left naked in a urine filled cell for nearly 24 hours. She was transferred under the Mental Health Act and spent five days in a psychiatric ward where she reported the alleged rape and had symptoms including severe rectal pain and bleeding but received no physical examination for the claims. The Independent Office for Police Conduct has completed its investigation and offered to meet her to discuss findings while Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham commissioned an inquiry that led to all 26 recommendations being implemented by the force. Zayna Iman says she simply wanted the missing footage and accuses Burnham of not delivering on any of his promises calling the inquiry a public relations stunt. Greater Manchester Combined Authority said a thorough investigation by the IOPC was the right way forward and confirmed the force has ended welfare strip searches and established an independent panel for accountability.

BBC News reader Amy Garcia 45 hits back at troll over short dresses with defiant snap The BBC Look North presenter received a handwritten letter from a viewer named Margaret criticising her on screen dresses as far too short for her age and accusing her of dressing like a 17 year old. Amy responded by posting an Instagram photo of herself in a floral printed mini dress perched on the famous red sofa and dedicated the outfit to her critic. She captioned the snap I recently received a handwritten letter telling me that my dresses were far too short for my age and why was I dressing like a 17 year old This outfit is for Margaret I hope she approves. The 45 year old presenter who has hosted the show since 2020 received strong support from followers who called the letter rude and entitled. Fans praised her figure and told her to dress how she likes saying it is not against the law to show a bit of leg. The defiant post came after years of Amy working in broadcasting including on CBBC and BBC South Today.

Council enforcement officers sacked after being caught on camera threatening member of the public Two officers employed by Kingdom Services Group under contract to Harrow Council were filmed in May 2026 confronting a man on Northolt Road in South Harrow London. The man was recording the officers who then accused him of messing with their money and proceeded to turn off their body worn cameras. Threats followed including one officer saying he would knock out the mans teeth when not in uniform and another saying he would throw the man through walls. The officers also threatened to involve police who they claimed would harm the man because they work together. Harrow Council and Kingdom Services Group both stated that swift action was taken in May after the complaint and confirmed the officers no longer work for the company.

A British family from Liverpool say they feared being attacked at a five star resort in Turkey after a Turkish man screamed at and pushed their twelve year old boy during a row over football. The incident happened on the evening of June 5 when Turkish guests and their children began kicking balls at a group of British kids sitting in a circle at the Kids Club. The twelve year old stepson was hit in the face by a ball threw it back and was then pushed three times by an angry Turkish man who demanded he call his father. The family reported the assault to hotel staff but were told only sexual assault or rape would lead to guests being removed due to cultural differences. CCTV footage showed the Turkish men had behaved aggressively while staff initially wrongly claimed the British children were throwing rubbish and spitting. The family from Liverpool felt paranoid for the rest of their stay and have said they will never return to the resort after the lack of action from management.
