Pause for a second because you need to hear this. This is @samikatplays. Who was so, so incredibly brave last year to come out to GCX. She only made it because of the kindness of a community who made sure she got there. She only stayed all the way through because once she did - everyone made her feel like family. "Why is so everyone so upset about Destiny?" Because it's not "just a video game". It may have started that way once every brilliant developer and voice actor poured their heart and soul into it. But then they handed it to all of us. Once that happened, that transaction became more than monetary. It became home. It became the conduit through which people find THEIR people and their place. It hurts because those are two things people never want to part with willingly. But something you learn in life that you carry those people with you, every kindness given, every memory made. We hope there will be a #Destiny3. Who wouldn't want that? In the meanwhile and at the very least - this right here. What you did for one person...that is the epitome of bringing the light. She can't join us this year (we asked) but she'll always have a home. And for anyone who struggles to leave home, to take a leap of faith or maybe deals with anxiety, or private pains - we're honored to welcome back @GuardiansMH who are planning something special this year as a quiet little respite from the busy floor. To our Lighkeeper community, Over the years, you've helped turn compassion into action and shown what's possible when our community comes together for those in need. Today, we wanted to take a moment to assure you of the future of the Bungie Foundation and properly thank you for the incredible support Guardians have given the Foundation since Destiny’s launch. To start, we want to reaffirm that the Bungie Foundation will continue its work. Our team remains committed to our mission to providing joy and relief to kids communities who need it most. From Bungie's very first fundraising campaign in response to Hurricane Katrina during the days of Halo, through all of the incredible years in Destiny and now what comes next, our success and ability to change the world has been because of the compassion and generosity of YOU, our community. Since our very first activation in D1 with the Pride of Nepal emblem 11 years ago, you helped us raise over $32 million dollars to support our Little Lights program, ID&E initiatives, and humanitarian causes. Every one of you has made an impact through your support of the Foundation and that will never change. Destiny may have been the primary game we fundraised through, but you are the heart and soul of the Bungie Foundation. Above all, it was your passion for doing good that made it possible, and we can’t wait to see how you show up for our future campaigns. We are eternally grateful for your awe-inspiring generosity, kindness and willingness to join us in trying to make the world a better place. THANK YOU. We will continue showing up for the causes that need us, and though the way we fundraise may look different, we are just as determined to make a dent in this universe as we ever have been. As always, this will be a community-led effort, and we will continue to collaborate with Lightkeepers across the world to help us shape what this next chapter looks like.
