One of the highlights of my first ComboBreaker was meeting
@GuruSSBM for the first time!
Friendship history: Guru and I have some mutual friends through the UrienCord (ZEBES), DC (Dankah, CoffeeOwl, etc), and the Melee-3S Pipeline. We’ve also played a few sets on Fightcade, but what really connected us was when Guru DMed me about my mentality posts/sincere tournament recap Poe-sts. He was one of the first people to tell me that my posts were helping him, and ~every six months we would end up having a really fruitful conversation about our attitudes. We talked about our highs and lows and encouraged each other.
Last year, Gueu made the top 10 rankings in his extremely difficult region for Melee, a tremendous achievement (and especially with his character), and I was very moved when he credited me in his post with helping him achieve this amazing feat 🥹
At ComboBreaker, we finally met and hit it right off, just as expected!
AND… when I got sent to losers earlier than I’d hoped, guess who helped me? Guru! We didn’t even talk about it that much, but just knowing he was there reminded me of all of our mentality work, and I knew I couldn’t let him down by giving anything less than my very best, no matter what. This motivation was a big part of my losers run success 🔥
To top it off, Guru played one of the hypest sets of 3S all weekend on stage/stream when he epically clutched it out against GE3SEU, a very solid Yun player. Check it out if you haven’t!
Thanks for everything, Guru! Let’s keep growing in and out of game together 🔥♥️👊
P.S. I confirmed he isn’t the same person as Bubbles!
