Collection of mid June #Jets thoughts, post OTAs, pre minicamp 1 - I expect Klubnik to open camp as the expected QB2, even if Zappe gets some of the reps there early. My guess is team assesses through first week of preseason and if they feel need for another veteran, they call up the Eagles about a late round pick swap for Andy Dalton (or something like that). 2 - Will be interesting to see how the #Jets offensive skill position depth spots shake out. You figure that GW, AD, Cooper, Patrick, Breece, Braelon, Davis, Taylor, Sadiq, Ruckert are all locks along with Williams and Kene for specials...which means out of Beck, Woods, Arian, Trayanum, maybe only one sticks. I'd lean towards not carrying a fullback and for Arian, he needs to prove he is one of the two best gunners on the team with Stiggers and Kene here to stick since he's probably no higher than WR6 (Williams had some juice at WR last year!) 3 - I see no path to Baron making the roster unless there are injuries. I hope Payne finds a way to stick on the initial 53. They need upside at safety and he should add specials value immediately. 4 - I can see the #Jets gradually getting more 12 personnel heavy throughout season but my guess is they are 11 personnel heavy early with GW, AD and Cooper out there with Taylor and Breece. You can swap Sadiq into that set for either Taylor or Cooper depending on where you want to use him. 5 - Very subject to change but if I had to guess today, the #Jets first snap, base defense is Wright/Stephens on outside, Ponds in slot, Minkah/Belton at safety, Sherwood/Davis at LB, Briggs/Sweat upfront and Ossai/WMD on edges...expecting plenty of shuffling and rotation week to week and ideally Moore/Thomas take on bigger secondary roles throughout year and Bailey is always out there on third down and then gradually playing heavy reps on early downs. Also we'll see plenty of Phillips and Onyemata rotating upfront with Enagbare...and Brownlee can be a factor in slot on run downs. 6 - I think Membou is going to be awesome this year and in consideration for second team All-Pro at RT...#Jets should extend Tippmann before week 1.
