Early this Wednesday morning, June 10, 2026, I was on a business telephone call with a Zimbabwean businessman & physicist who has been based in the Cayman Islands for the past 24 years. As we all know, the Cayman Islands are globally reputed for, inter alia, being a major offshore financial center, renowned as a tax haven with zero corporate, income or capital gains taxes. Some of the hedge funds in the Cayman Islands are worth billions and billions of dollars. When I asked him what is the secret behind the Cayman Islands' global attraction for big capital, he told me that there are two things that are fundamentally important on these islands i.e. Don't lie & Don't steal! He further told me that lying & stealing, at whatever level, are cardinal sins in the Cayman Islands. This got me thinking very, very hard. Just imagine if all of us in Zimbabwe stopped lying & stealing! The country will rapidly become the new Switzerland or Singapore of the world! Just thinking....🤔
