HAC and the City of Lafayette have reached a settlement in our housing element lawsuit. Lafayette has agreed to consider upzoning 130 acres near downtown & the BART station, & will pay $120K in attorney's fees. More homes near transit in a high-resource community — that's what Bay Area housing justice looks like 🥳
“Planning for more homes near transit in a high-resource community like Lafayette is exactly the kind of action the Bay Area needs to address the housing crisis and advance fair housing. Glad to see this settlement move things forward” @AliSapirman
Congrats to @Scott_Wiener on advancing to the November general in CA-11! One step closer to heading to Congress — and we couldn’t ask for a stronger housing champion to bring the fight to Washington. Our c4 is very proud to have endorsed!
Only 7% of Californians have returned their primary ballots ‼️
We co-hosted a forum with CA governor candidates on housing. If you care about the housing crisis, now's the time to act — hear where they stand and make a plan to vote by Tuesday, June 2. 🗳️🏠
Last Friday, HAC did something major. ‼️
We put every leading Democratic candidate for CA governor on one stage and made housing the only item on the agenda.
Housing is on the ballot in this race because we put it there. 🏠 Together, we're sparking conversations across the country about the future of housing policy.
Special thanks to our co-hosts @sanfranciscofoundation, @ezraklein@nytimes, and the Terner Center at UC Berkeley!
"I believe we need more ribbon cuttings than bill-signing ceremonies," @BuffyWicks says in her introduction to @ezraklein's housing forum with top gubernatorial candidates.
TONIGHT 🚨 Our housing forum is sold out — but the livestream is free.
Watch @ezraklein ask leading CA gubernatorial candidates how they plan to solve the housing crisis, live on YouTube @nytimes app.

Asked by @ezraklein why should the state be able to tell cities what to do when it comes to housing —
@XavierBecerra: “Well, for the same reason kids have to eat their broccoli.”
“LA has not exactly been a model for housing production.” - @ezraklein notes a litany of specific policies that harm housing production, such as Measure ULA.
@AVillaraigosa says he built more housing than his predecessor. Agrees re Measure ULA.
