BRIC-NABI (@NABI_India) boosting iron nutrition through crop biotechnology 🌾
Researchers enhanced iron accumulation in the wheat endosperm using vacuolar iron transporters driven by an endosperm-specific promoter.
Transgenic lines developed via Agrobacterium-mediated transformation showed higher iron levels, validated by immunolocalization, ICP-MS, and pulse tracing, with confirmed bioavailability in the ST29 animal cell line.
