I was honoured to be invited to HMP Thameside this morning to talk to the inmates about my books.
The room was full of interesting people talking about writing, publishing, the role and independence of the media and much more besides - and so moving to hear some of their stories.

Last week @HMPThameside held an event with volunteers from @PenguinUKBooks and @PRG_UK to discuss The @Poetry_Pharmacy 2 to a group of 14 prisoners. One participant said 'I felt it was excellent how a bunch of people from all walks of life came together and shared their thoughts'

7 months ago, prisoners from @HMPThameside embarked on an 8 part Sports Writing Workshop. I had no idea how it would pan out and have been blown away by their response. I received some incredible notes from some of the prisoners. Attached is one of them.... ❤️✍️

HMP Thameside is proud to recognise #NoSmokingDay. Four years ago, all @SercoGroup prisons became smoke free sites for prisoners, staff and visitors in an effort to promote better health and cut down on the harm caused by first and second-hand smoking.

In comparison to other prisons in the UK, HMP Thameside is relatively new. The prison was opened in March 2012 as a new build prison and was later extended in 2015, increasing the prison’s capacity to accommodate up to 1232 prisoners. #SercoAndProud
