(usually with an exceedingly small head and elaborate dress). They are said to come from a very broad area covering northern Afghanistan, but also eastern Iran, and southern Turkmenistan.

Lit up like fireflies! Take a closer look at this 14th century Italian velvet and you will see gilt metal weft loops raised at intervals, a technique called Allucciolato (lit up like fireflies).
