Based on analyses from sources like the Sutton Trust, IFS, and Guardian, here are 10 areas critics say UK Conservatives fell short in education (2010-2024):
1. Failing to adequately increase SEN per-place funding.
2. Judging SEN schools by mainstream standards.
3. Not uplifting SEN pupils in SCA funding for years.
4. Stagnant per-pupil funding, same as 2010 levels.
5. 10-23% cuts to post-16 college/sixth-form budgets.
6. Widening attainment gaps for disadvantaged pupils.
7. Teacher shortages, with pay down 13% in real terms.
8. Scrapping Educational Maintenance Allowance.
9. Inadequate school building investment (25% below mid-2000s).
10. Rising local authority deficits from SEND costs.
