Today is #InternationalWomensDay (#IWD2023) and AGE-WELL would like to take a moment to recognize and celebrate some of the incredible #women in our network who help to improve the lives of older adults and caregivers. #EmbraceEquity 👩👩🦰👩🦳
Science needs women, and women need science.
🌍 In recognition of @UNESCO International Day of Women and Girls in Science, ISEK invited some female student members to share their stories. This is what they said 👇 #WomenInScience#Equity#Diversity#Inclusion

It was great catching up with @HaHalisa90 and many others over the break. Love hearing all the neat Ph.D work she's doing with @BrianHDalton. Although the master's experience is short, there is something special about being part of the initial spark for students' careers.
Special thank you to my current supervisor, @BrianHDalton for all the guidance and feedback to receive this award. Also, thank you to my previous supervisor, @GarrettHester2, for the kind words and supporting letter of recommendation.
Almost hot off the press: Sex differences in motor unit behaviour: A review. doi.org/10.1016/j.jek.2022.1…. Hopefully this is the start to more research in this area of study with many gaps. Only 10 female-only studies and 11 directly looking at sex differences to date.
This months @CSEPdotCA communiqué.
Knowledge mobilization with @MathewDebenham and @BrianHDalton over a recent publication. See comments for key messages:
Over-corrective balance responses may be linked to greater dorsiflexor activity, greater postural sway and/or less muscle power in older females than young.
Just like that it’s a wrap for #ISPGR2022 presentations for Dalton’s Spin Lab.
So thankful for all the new connections, and getting to hear about all the wonderful things our field is doing.
ISPGR latest blog post is out! Check out this new study from the SPIN lab at UBC investigating vestibular-evoked balance responses in young and older women following fatiguing ankle muscles contractions.
