The River Wye has just made UK history. For the first time, an entire river catchment has been formally recognised as a living ecosystem with rights - including the right to flow, thrive, regenerate, and be free from pollution. It's a major victory for nature.

A bricklayer in East Yorkshire has spent 35 years putting up barn owl nest boxes on weekends. This year, the region saw 308 owlets hatch. His name is Robert Salter. He's 56 and does bricklaying full time. In 1990, he saw a piece on the news about a man in Lincolnshire installing barn owl boxes, and decided he'd do the same. He started with five. He now has more than 350 boxes scattered across fields, farms, outbuildings, and trees in East Yorkshire. Every June, he takes four weeks off from bricklaying and visits them with his wife Sue. Scrambling up ladders, ringing chicks, cleaning boxes, repairing the ones the weather got to. He's a licensed bird ringer for the British Trust for Ornithology. In 2024, the region ringed 95 owlets. In 2025, the count was 308. The Barn Owl Trust says that nationally, this year was "pretty poor" for barn owl breeding, but east Yorkshire is the exception, and it's the exception because of one man with a ladder. The barn owl population in the UK was estimated at 4,000 pairs in the mid-2000s and crashed to roughly 1,000 by the early 2010s. The species is still recovering. Most of conservation is one person who refuses to give up.

Today we also observed the first use of live facial recognition at a protest in London. This is a chilling escalation that could put many people off expressing their views and is an assault on the right to free expression in Britain.

DISGUSTING! 😡 The concept that cattle stations own millions of hectares of bush in Australia and are allowed to destroy it is one of the biggest environmental disasters in the world! ❌

RICKY GERVAIS USES HIS OWN HARD-EARNED MONEY TO RESCUE THE FINAL BEARS FROM CRUEL BILE FARMS Comedian Ricky Gervais has donated $200,000 from the profits of his Mortality tour to Animals Asia. This generous gift will directly help rescue and rehabilitate the last one hundred fifty bears still trapped in tiny cages on the remaining bile farms in Vietnam. These animals have suffered years of painful bile extraction in conditions that no creature should ever endure. It is inspiring to see private philanthropy and personal success making a real difference by fighting this barbaric practice through action rather than empty talk.

Norway's whalers have already killed 56 minke whales in April 2026 alone racing toward a horrific quota of 1,641! 😢 Iceland's gearing up to slaughter 318 more, while Japan's infamous kangei Maru factory ship butchers whales right now. This barbarism must end #BanWhalingForever

This is gamekeeper RUSSELL MASON of Bridge of Cally, Perthshire. He trapped a rare bird of prey in a cage before beating it to death and was caught out by a covert surveillance operation. Mason, 49, lured the protected Goshawk into a baited trap before battering it several times with a cosh to cause its agonising death. He was also found to have left nearly 200 rounds of live ammunition lying around in his bedroom and unsecured within his Polaris Ranger vehicle. Mason admitted intentionally or recklessly killing a Goshawk on 12 February 2024 by seizing it with a net before repeatedly striking it with a cosh on Cochrage Moor, Bridge of Cally, Perthshire. He is also a registered SEX OFFENDER!! He will be sentenced at a later date. Full story: dailyrecord.co.uk/news/scott… Via @Daily_Record.

BREAKING: 🇮🇱 An Israeli spyware firm co-founded by Jeffrey Epstein’s longtime close friend Ehud Barak just made a catastrophic blunder. A live screenshot of Graphite’s control panel was accidentally exposed - showing real victim phone numbers and active toggles to instantly hijack WhatsApp, Signal, Telegram and take full control over anyone’s digital life. This was the moment a company revealed exactly how its weapon spies on the world. This tool hacks journalists, activists, human rights defenders, but above all politicians, ministers, opposition leaders, and anyone who might threaten the power or interests of those who pay. Paragon isn’t a tech company. It’s a surveillance factory with political cover.

I mentioned a random brand of dog food in a private conversation. 10 minutes later, I had an ad for it. It’s not a coincidence, and it’s not magic. Your phone is "shadow-logging" your life through 5 specific settings you’ve likely never touched. Here is how to stop the eavesdropping:

Lush founder tells Gaza critics to stay away from his stores —— Lush co-founder Mark Constantine said people who oppose his solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza should not shop at his stores, saying he does not want support from customers who reject his position. Speaking on the BBC’s The Big Boss Interview, Constantine said profits from Lush are used to support causes he believes in, including actions taken in response to humanitarian conditions in Gaza. Constantine, who led a temporary shutdown of Lush stores earlier this year, said the move was driven by images of starving civilians in Gaza, adding that customers who disagree “absolutely shouldn’t support” his business, according to remarks cited by the BBC.
