One of the most powerful moments you will see in Parliament this year. Today, @jessphillips read the names of 107 women killed, or suspected to have been killed, by men over the last year. Each a reminder as to why violence against women and girls must be tackled as the national emergency it is. They came from every background, every walk of life. Their names are a stark reminder that, for too long, violence against women and girls has been treated as a fact of life - but we will not accept this. Our Violence Against Women and Girls strategy, launched in December, is only the beginning. We are committed to acting faster and doing whatever it takes to protect more women and girls from harm.

The grooming gangs scandal was one of the darkest moments in this country’s history. The public expect transparency around the inquiry into it. We are providing it and are committed to securing justice for all victims and survivors. A thread 🧵👇
