"Sales of baby food pouches have increased by 900 percent. Experts are concerned." Not clear how much sales of jarred food have decreased in the same timescale (so overall shift to purees may not be this huge) but there's acknowledgement that chewing matters. #BLW
US data but would put money on the same picture in UK. We URGENTLY need progress on commercial baby & toddler food regulation to address issues with inappropriate composition & marketing @GwynneMP @Childrensfood @OHA_updates Sales of baby food pouches have increased by 900 percent. October is Down Syndrome Awareness Month! So this Monday we want to make sure that the parents of children who have Down Syndrome are feeling heard 🩷 A misconception surrounding newborn babies with Down Syndrome is that they will not be able to breastfeed. This is not correct. With the right support, it’s very possible for babies with Down Syndrome to breastfeed! It is so important to us that ALL mums and families get the support they need to breastfeed their children as long as they want to. During World Breastfeeding Week @PositiveaboutDS shared some amazing breastfeeding stories with us on Instagram, which show that support is key. For information on feeding your baby, go to: downsyndromeuk.co.uk/health/… Our own peer supporter Sarah Ojar, who also works with PADS, wrote a post for us earlier this year for World Down Syndrome Day: 'End the Stereotypes', which you may find useful: breastfeedingnetwork.org.uk/… #DownSyndromeAwarenessMonth #SupportingInfantFeeding

Congratulations!. It’s finally happened. So many memories of discussions with colleagues at DH &support to Zoe, Sam & all involved & finally, every baby that was lost in early pregnancy will be formally acknowledged. Parents will be given an official government-issued certificate
We did it ❤️❤️❤️ Everyone in England can now apply for a baby loss certificate, whether the loss was yesterday or eighty years ago. Ten years ago, I had a dream that the parents of every baby that was lost in pregnancy would be able to be given an official government-issued certificate, so we launched a campaign. Mariposa International (Saying Goodbye) was a lone voice until Baroness Floella Benjamin pledged to support us in our endeavour. Roll forward a few years to March 2018 when The Secretary of State for Health asked me and Samantha Collinge to co-chair and author the government’s pregnancy loss review, which included looking at the feasibility of introducing the certificate. All of that work has resulted in this significant day. I know how much this means to so many people as your babies are finally being officially acknowledged.

We offer many forms of universal support: we visit families on Haringey maternity wards, text/call families after a new birth, offer home visits, and you can come to our 3 drop-ins, book a 1-1 appointment, register for a video call, and send us an email with questions. 3/4

The Big Give Women and Girls Match Fund campaign starts this week. We’re so excited to have been selected to take part! This year, we have a chance to unlock £10,000 of match funding through @BigGive . That means if we can raise £10,000 in donations during the campaign, we will secure an incredible total of £20,000 for The Breastfeeding Network. This is a fantastic opportunity for us to raise critical funds to support our work—and we need your help to spread the word! These funds will make a real difference, helping us continue our essential work supporting women, babies, and families across the UK with breastfeeding support, education, and training. With rising costs and increased demand for our services, these donations are needed more than ever. We’re incredibly grateful for your ongoing support, and we’re confident that with your help, this year’s campaign will be a huge success! Donations link opens 12pm on Thursday 10th October: donate.biggive.org/campaign/… #WGMF #BigGive
