Nigeria Is Under Siege. We Are At War.
Across the country, citizens live in fear of kidnappers, bandits, and terrorists. Families are forced to pray that their loved ones simply make it home safely.
When children are now prisoners of war for 31 days and counting, it is fair to ask: where is the urgency?
The first duty of government is the protection of lives and property. Yet days continue to pass without the kind of progress that should give families hope.
We cannot normalize insecurity.
We cannot become comfortable with captivity.
We cannot move on while families are still waiting.

June 12 was the marking of a Democratic Nigeria.
Twenty-seven years later, the challenge is ensuring that the system works for every Nigerian. It is very shameful that we will have to mark today’s celebration with children in captivity, insecurity and a host of other problems facing our great nation.
What use is a democracy when the underprivileged are not captured.
Some leaders ask for power.
Others ask a nation to believe again.
