Iowa is officially on the board for the class of 2027. Keller Daugherty, a 6-foot-Ten Forward with a #153 national class ranking (#8 in MO), committed to the Hawkeyes earlier today. Will play multiple positions. And checks a lot of McCollum' boxes, especially the "around winning cultures" one: Daugherty starred for a top 15 (MO) Lee's Summit and competed in Class 6, which features the largest schools across the state. He also comes from an elite AAU program in @VWBAelite — with notable recent alums like Keaton Wagler, and our very own Isaia Howard. Great addition and fit. Get familiar, Hawk fans!

Most of the elite non conference tournaments have been booked years in advance. Would've loved to see Iowa in the Players Era 16, but not happening this season. The best tournament with an unannounced field is likely the ESPN Invitational in Florida. Last year's 'Magic' bracket featured BYU, Miami, Georgetown and Dayton. The Battle 4 Atlantis also has 1 single spot open. With Virginia, Marquette and A&M in the quadrant with an open slot, potentially providing three Q1-2 opportunities before December hits. With a solid noncon schedule already in place, don't think you'll see the Hawkeyes enter a tournament just for the sake of it. Has to be a good fit like last year's Palm Springs trip, which provided us winnable games against quality opponents.

One of the best all around point guards in this class — two way player who can lead you in assists and scoring. Coached by a highly respected coach Vic Morris at Calvary, a hotbed for talent. Top 90 nationally in 3pt made. Standout quote: "I'm a wolf. I'm going to kill anything in front of me and play this game the right way," — from @stockrisers On Iowa recruitment: "pitching to me that I can create my own legacy at Iowa. Coach Ben has done a great job of developing guards, even at the Division 2 stage. Just showing me how bad they want and need me" All-City.. All-League..Has been MVP at elite camps and sessions, like EYBL. Will be a first team All American before he leaves college.
Four-star point guard Tyrone Jamison will take an official visit to Iowa on June 14th, @247sports is told 247sports.com/player/tyrone-…

Disappointed in how Fran & co. treated longtime Iowa reporters. But equally disappointed in those reporters. If you knew what was happening behind the scenes and sat on it — that’s a disservice to the fans who trusted you and goes against every fiber of journalistic integrity. Dropping harsh narratives a year after he’s gone is cowardice. I'm thrilled about the staff we have in place, it's time to move on.

One thing this staff has instantly improved: fan engagement Ben knows what's needed to energize a student body and fanbase, and he gives his time to make the impact needed. Carver is going to be rocking this Winter.
The support. The energy. The belief. Thank you, Hawkeye Nation 👊

McCollum has always been savvy about schedule construction — protecting his record while quietly building NET equity. Conventional wisdom says the 76-team expansion should reinforce that instinct. But with Creighton, Xavier, ISU, a noncon tourney, and an SEC team already on the slate, he’s clearly not expecting a dropoff and is building for a high seed.

A highly underrated skill of his. Save the date: June 23rd We'll be watching another Hawkeye enter the most talent-rich league on the planet.
Another cool part of the @League_Him interview was when Bennett Stirtz explained why he thinks he's a better player off the ball. His game speaks for itself but this interview makes me feel even more comfortable having him high on my NBA big board

Similar to last year's team, Coleman and McKeever both took less money to be in Iowa City. This staff has a number and if a player doesn't want to fit within it, they've shown they aren't going to invest much time in negotiating with agents and constantly re-upping an original number. They were able to land one of the most wanted centers in a market where every team is trying to recreate the Michigan blueprint. Hard to argue against the results. And I don't think you'll see many schools have long term success with spending to spend (see 2026 BYU, Kentucky, Indiana, etc..) It's a tight unit inside those Carver halls.

Excited about the backcourt defensive potential with Coleman Combs. Coleman was statistically the 2nd-best defender on an Illinois State team that made a deep NIT run. Top 65 nationally. Impressive for just a freshman. Staff was consistent on Combs all year. His defense is a critical component of what Iowa’s best looks like. Remember when Thornton came into Carver averaging 29 over his last 3? He was held to just 10 points in Iowa City, and Combs was the primary defender. Opposing guards are going to have to earn their NIL checks against this guard combo.

NEWS: Saint Mary’s transfer Andrew McKeever has committed to Iowa, his agency @GSLSportsGroup told ESPN. 7-3 center averaged 8.2 points, 9.2 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game. No. 2 offensive rebounder in the country, per KenPom. Really intriguing profile for the Hawkeyes.

I have my concerns about McKeever..... but a slow-paced scheme with a coach that controls the game is exactly what he needs to thrive. Big Ten is the best power league for him (slowest pace by a lot) and Iowa is the best fit for him. And giving McCollum a 7 foot 3 player to throw to?
