Peace for Tigray. The words feel hollow from where I’m sitting, but what else can we say or do at this point?

Tigrayans are perishing from hunger. Harrowing images from the Hitsats IDP center. With about 40% of Tigray still occupied by enemy forces, displaced Tigrayans crowded into the remaining areas are dying under a silent siege and economic blockade.. facebook.com/tigrai.tv1/post

Checked the major news orgs this morning for coverage on Sudan. Found no front facing stories on the El Fasher massacre currently happening. If this is not news worthy, what else is?
Sudan đŸ‡žđŸ‡©: RSF militants are chasing people who fled from El Fasher through the Wana hills northwest of the city. Many of the civilians from El Fasher haven't eaten for days. They're literally running for their lives, through the desert, using the last bit of strength they have.

Right now, orgs & initiatives on the ground need our financial support to help the thousands of displaced. For a list of some orgs: linktr.ee/bsonblast (urgent causes) If you can’t contribute, then fundraise. And make sure Sudan stays on EVERYONE’s mind! #KeepEyesOnSudan

#Ethiopia: Eight IDPs die over three months from hunger, lack of medicine in #Tigray; humanitarian conditions deteriorate in #Amhara following #USAID suspension At least eight internally displaced persons (IDPs) have died in the past three months in Axum town, Tigray region, reportedly due to “hunger” and “lack of medicine,” according to Kahsay Asayehegn, coordinator for displaced persons in the Axum Cluster of the Western Tigray Zone. Speaking to Tigray TV, Kahsay said the living conditions of thousands remain dire, with people now exposed to “cold, illness, and the risk of flooding” amid heavy rainfall. Displaced communities, he added, have urged authorities “to save them from the risk of death” and appealed for “secure shelter, at least until the rainy season ends.” In Amhara, the suspension of humanitarian assistance by USAID has contributed to deteriorating conditions in displacement sites, Deutsche Welle (DW) reported. A displaced individual cited by DW said there is “no food,” while shelter tents have collapsed and essential supplies including “flour, oil or clothing” are no longer being delivered. Mihret Melaku, head of the Waghimra Zone Food Security and Disaster Prevention Office, said the situation affects not only displaced people but also others who had relied on monthly aid, adding that the challenge now extends to wider communities. addisstandard.com/?p=50013

Public notice regarding federal police raid on Addis Standard and mass confiscation of electronic devises This is a public notice regarding a coordinated police raid on April 17, 2025, targeting both the private residence of a senior staff member and the offices of Addis Standard, by the federal police. We would like to reiterate that although the detained staff members were released, the continued seizure of a wide array of personal and professional electronic equipment - including laptops, mobile phones, hard disks, and CPUs - has not only disrupted our operations but are a cause for alarm. The confiscated electronics remain in police hands, leaving our communication channels vulnerable to misuse. Although our main digital credentials remain secure, we cannot guarantee the integrity of any messages or emails sent from the compromised devices. This opens the door to potential impersonation, misinformation, or attempts to incriminate our team members through unauthorized access or manipulation of data. In such a volatile environment, the use of these devices outside our control presents serious risks not only to our staff’s safety but also to the integrity of our journalistic work. We call for urgent attention to this matter and reiterate our commitment to pursuing all legal and peaceful avenues to protect our team and uphold our integrity to defend the freedom of the press in Ethiopia. Not again. I still remember the torn bodies, the shattered limbs, the blood. The pain that never fades. And now, war looms over Tigray again. Haven’t we suffered enough? Haven’t we buried enough? Say NO to war. Before it takes everything Again. #SayNoToWar #Tigray #NeverAgain

The best way to end the horrific war and genocide in Sudan is to get the UAE to stop arming the RSF. As one of the biggest arms suppliers to the UAE, the U.S. has the leverage here – and we need to use it. That’s why I will again try to block the next U.S. arms sale to the UAE.

So much horror and inhumanity in our World House. Please don’t turn away from our family in the West Bank, Gaza, Sudan, Congo
Posted @withregram ‱ @nytimes A weekslong Israeli military operation across several West Bank cities has displaced roughly 40,000 Palestinians from their homes, in what historians and researchers say is the biggest displacement of civilians in the territory since the Arab-Israeli war of 1967. Thousands of residents have been forced to shelter with friends and relatives, or camp in wedding halls, schools, mosques, municipal buildings and even a farm shed. Many of the displaced are the descendants of refugees who were expelled or fled from their homes during the wars surrounding the creation of the state of Israel in 1948, a period known in Arabic as the Nakba. The renewed displacement raises painful memories of the central trauma in Palestinian history. Tap the link in our bio for more. How your phone might be funding the war in eastern DRC Eastern DRC's resource-rich region is engulfed in war, making it hard to certify that mined metals don’t fund armed groups. These conflict minerals enter global markets and end up in our electronics.
