Thank you @lucyaadam and @sicsmembers for inviting me to speak and for organising such a great session. It was incredible to see so much emphasis on PICS and the MDT approach in talks and posters at this years conference. #SICS23
#SICS2023 Great breakout session to finish the annual meeting covering physical, psychological and social elements of PICS. Thanks to Mr Richard Steven @nhsfife, Dr Maggie Cunningham @FifeHSCP and @HelenJordan85 for their thought provoking presentations.
It says a lot about the last few months when I see this book and think “oh wow I really need this advice” before realising it is very much a joke book….. 😭
Excited to be presenting at the @Microsoft Digital Health Webinar on 14th February 10-11am to share our journey of designing, pilot and evaluation of Patient Connect. Register at lnkd.in/eR4jApx5 to hear about this project and others @cslemp@MaeveWheelhouse
The health secretary Steve Barclay says that the NHS is often too risk-averse to introduce new technology to help patients, pledging to take on the “vested interests” blocking change thetimes.co.uk/article/healt…
Over 15 years ago, I evaluated almost 200 ICU patients at the time of discharge in the ABC Trial. Almost 100% of them were significantly cognitively impaired but they rarely looked this way. Don't assume, at discharge, that your patients are cognitively normal. @CIBScenter
Week two of Patient Connect Pilot and we are recruiting in @CTS_RIE Thank you to all of the staff in Ward 111 for your enthusiasm and support. We hope to show this new app can help patients and family when admitted to cardiothoracic ICU @DoxSean@MaeveWheelhouse@riecriticalcare
This week we began our first pilot of Patient Connect in @teamwghicu It has taken an incredible amount of hard work, determination and vision to get to this point.
Thank you to the entire team in NHS and Microsoft who made this possible!
Very excited to have secured a place on the @nes_dlp Digital Health and Care Leadership Programme! Looking forward to learning more about digital health and how to lead projects in this challenging area
The more I think about it, the more I feel we should start again with Parliament. Have a modern building, electronic voting, office hours, decent childcare, no on-site bars. Governing this country is too important for it to be treated like a 'gentlemen's' club.
I keep reading seeing talks advertised at conferences on Imposter Syndrome. It feels a little like telling people to just be more resilient. Can we not change the system instead? Lets be more inclusive, more welcoming, less resistant to change.
The office has had a makeover! Thank you to Paula O’Malley in the healing arts team @LivHospitals and our VIC colleagues Marie Pearce and Louisa Morris for making this possible. We miss the window but this makes it feel sunny even in February.
Yesterday I worked a 12.5hr shift in ICU. Staff are no longer allowed to park on site so I had to go to the park and ride. I arrived at 9.30pm, I was alone, it was dark, there were groups of young men in their cars. I never want to be in that situation again 😢 @NHS_Lothian
