MP for North Shropshire and @LibDems Spokesperson for Health and Social Care. Promoted by North Shropshire Lib Dems at Flat B, The Fighting Cocks, SY11 1QE.
The resident doctors' strike that was due to start on Monday has been called off. Please continue to attend any appointments as planned, unless you have been contacted directly by us. Access NHS services as normal if you need them.
We should be tightening all sanctions on Russia to weaken its war machine.
This waiver should never have been granted in the first place - but I'm glad that Liberal Democrat pressure, spearheaded by Lord Purvis @PurvisTweed, has secured a guaranteed date for it to be scrapped.

To secure a two-state solution, we need to build bridges between Israeli and Palestinian communities - empowering moderates and eroding extremists.
I'm pleased to see UK Govt taking forward this Lib Dem proposed policy. It now needs proper funding - not just what can be spared from the slashed ODA budget.

Al Carns has now confirmed what the @LibDems have said from the outset.
Whilst the Tories’ Legacy Act unforgivably equated our brave veterans with terrorists, Labour’s Troubles Bill is equally flawed in not providing our veterans with sufficient safeguards & protections.
We owe those who serve the UK the kit to do the job and the loyalty to stand by them when it's done. We are failing on both.
I’ve spent my whole time in government making that case. Number 10 will not listen, so I am resigning as Minister for the Armed Forces.

Last night the Government said no to Railways Bill amendments that would mean:
❌️ trains running on time
❌️ good seating
❌️ reliable Wi-Fi
❌️ clean toilets
The Lib Dems Passengers' Charter won't solve all the problems on our rail network, but it would give us all a better service and hold the operating companies to account.
As the Bill continues through Parliament, we'll continue to fight for improvements to our public transport.
So she condemns politicians who stoke division and hate in our communities, but would happily put them in No. 10? Total hypocrisy.
Reality is that Reform and the Tories are indistinguishable.
Wes Streeting said it himself - we need actions and not just words. Yet 18 months later there's still no data. It's just not good enough - I'm not sure 'shortly' really cuts it anymore. We need the data, and a plan to end the national disgrace of corridor care.
The parents, children and young people I have met with in North Shropshire have all been clear that more needs to be done to keep our children safe online. We’re calling for decisive action now.
The Prime Minister must stop begging tech companies to tackle child sexual abuse material and take decisive action to protect children online.

Yesterday, @AlisonEBennett MP and Liberal Democrat spokesperson for Care and Carers, and @HelenMorganMP and Liberal Democrat spokesperson for Health and Social Care, met with unpaid carers to discuss building carer friendly communities.

Being a carer means showing up every day, doing what needs to be done, often without anyone noticing.
That’s why I’m so glad Carers Week this year is all about building carer-friendly communities, where carers are recognised and supported.
Every single household in Britain should be able to afford their basic everyday energy needs. Families deserve stability, not sticking-plaster solutions.
Our Essential Energy Guarantee would use the huge windfall profits of the big energy network operators to cut your bills.
@libdemdaisy has the details. ⬇️
The tragic death of Henry Nowak should not be used to sow division.
Instead of condemning comments made by US politicians, Zia Yusuf chose to attack the BBC.
Britain needs leaders who stand up to division, not fuel it.

Wes Streeting promised to publish corridor care data in October 2024.
It's now June 2026, and we're still waiting. Patients deserve dignity. Staff deserve better.

Newly elected Leader of Birmingham City Council Liberal Democrat Councillor Roger Harmer @rogerbhx:
“Together, we can provide the stability, ambition, and practical action our city needs. Let us be the council that says, and proves, that #Birmingham comes first.”

"This isn't a general election. This is an election for a potential future Prime Minister via the back door, and that's not the right way to be doing politics."

Liberal Democrat Jake Austin says Andy Burnham “refuses to say the quiet part out loud” that he wants challenge Starmer for Labour leadership, which is “not the right way to be doing politics”

This is desperately sad news, and my heart goes out to the families of those who lost their lives today.
I am always left in awe by the bravery of our service men and women who put their lives on the line for all of our safety.
