🇹🇷 Turkish equities had one of worst days on record with a 6.1% decline after main opposition party CHP leader is removed by a court decision.
CHP was No1 in 2024 local elections with 37.8% of the votes.
US listed Turkey ETF is down 10% - larger decline because local market was stopped by a circuit breaker.
Lira stable as the CB is believed to have sold more than USD 6bn to defend it.
Benchmark bond was already close to 44% and inflation is also on its way up with latest CPI at 32.4%.
Well-trained for such occasions, Turkey observers will know what dynamics to expect going forward so no need to go into details.
