Your donations empower engineers. But what does that really look like? Each person who turns to Foothold for support is building their resilience and creating greater stability in their lives. Our impact report tells their stories ā”ļø tinyurl.com/ms4np7p5
Foothold empowers engineers when life gets difficult.
We help them to take control of their situation and get their lives back on track.
Your donations are directly supporting engineers and their families every day!
Between 1 Jan and 31 March this year we made 136 grant payments to people who need it most.
None of us are immune to lifeās challenges.
Whether itās:
- bereavement
- health issues
- unemployment,
- or sudden caring duties for a loved one
Life keeps moving no matter the situation.
Bills pile up, the rent or mortgage needs paying, and hungry mouths need feeding.
Help empower engineers so they can get back to doing what they do best.

Our new import report is here!
Behind every number is:
- a life changed
- a story to be told
- someone brave enough to reach out for support
- someone who supported our work
We couldn't have done this without you, our Foothold community.

Did you know, if you live in England, Scotland or Wales, you could be entitled to a government grant to make your work easier?
If youāre neurodivergent, disabled, or have any longāterm health condition, this could make work so much easier.
The scheme was able to provide Sam with equipment including noise cancelling headphones and dictation software, and even a specialist ADHD coach.

Do numbers make you feel stressed or confused?
Letās talk about dyscalculia.
Dyscalculia is a learning difference that affects how your brain processes numbers and quantities.
It has nothing to do with intelligence. Itās simply a difference in how your brain handles numerical information.
Many people with dyscalculia are strong in verbal reasoning and creative problem solving.
When you hear āTouretteāsā, what comes to mind?
Some people assume itās about random profanity.
But thatās actually one of the least common symptoms.
Touretteās is a neurodivergent condition that causes tics - sudden, repeated movements or sounds that you canāt fully control.
Many people with Touretteās are highly focused, resilient, observant, and creative problem-solvers - skills that are so valuable in engineering.
People with Touretteās may need more flexibility, tic breaks, or quiet spaces at work.
