Council backs option 3 "remove"! This is the option that could repair the city and heal the scar. Now we need the best professionals to work with the City and, most importantly, the people of Glasgow who will use the route, to get it right. glasgowtimes.co.uk/news/2610…

Cate Blanchett should have 3 Oscars on her mantel as we speak- not 2. Part of the reason I say this is because it’s clear to me now more than ever that Tár is the performance of her career. She won an Oscar for Blue Jasmine & The Aviator but this is her magnum opus…so far.

Glasgow’s George Sq is coming together nicely and will be great. But why are those rain gardens clearly not planted by gardeners?

These would look good in Glasgow as a modern interpretation of the tenement. I think we can use council owned land in a more imaginative way to address viability and bring more beauty back into housing
We are developing some proposals for a modern mansion block with taller ceilings, more windows, better communal areas and a private garden. We’ve been researching Albert Hall Mansions and Richard Norman Shaw who is credited with making flats desirable to the aspiring Victorian middle classes @archi_tradition @Aesthetic_City @createstreets

Dark (2017–2020) works because it treats time as structure rather than gimmick, every loop set up early and paid off later, and by the end it all closes with such precision it feels inevitable, a near perfect show.

Whilst mourning the loss of a building in Glasgow to accidental fire, spare a thought for all the buildings lost to not-so-accidental fires, and the city that Labour threw away...😮‍💨 Here's a thread of Glasgow, the city that disappeared.

A question I’ve been asked many times on here is what demolished buildings do I consider Glasgow’s greatest loss? It’s a question I really struggle to give an answer, with such an embarrassment of demolished riches just where do you start… 🥴

Time for collective leadership in Glasgow. A convention of council, Scottish and UK Governments to bring together their powers to test a radical approach to conservation. Let’s find a way to trial a VAT-free retrofit zone, reduce rates and create an expedited planning system.

Some Glasgow examples in this thread of historic/traditional buildings that burnt down, came close to falling down, and even just never finished, but were built/rebuilt in the original aesthetic

Replying to @OssianLore
The Grosvenor hotel at Great Western Road walks the line though. It’s a complete rebuild after a devastating fir in 1978 with the façade replicated in precast concrete panels, nothing original of it survives. Those with a #JoinersEye will be able to spot he joins in the panels.
