Last Monday and Tuesday, HiView, together with @FutureWater, was at @ihedelft to conduct guest lectures about #drones for agriculture. Yesterday, despite bad weather, we practised in field @WURfieldcrops, the farm of the future near Lelystad.

This week HiView conducted a short course on Flying Sensors for the Agençia de Desenvolvimento do Vale Zambeze, next to performing flights for farmers. In #Tete and Benga, middle west of #Mozambique. Together with @ThirdEye and @FutureWater.
First half of March HiView has been executing flights for @Natuurmonument at the Veluwe. #multispec images will be converted to vegetation index maps that will be used to detect the dissemination of a specific moss, #campylopus introflexus. Together with @BorgmanBeheer.
Last week Martijn de Klerk @FutureWaterNL and me conducted lectures @ihedelft. Also had a field excursion and gave a #drone flight demo at @Landbouwbedrijf Schipper in #Zinkweg. Thank you Hans Schipper for hosting us. And thanks to the motivated students.

At work again abroad. First trip after Covid 19 takes Hiview to Egypt to conduct field school days. Together with @FutureWaterNL and @IrriWatch, supported by @RVO_Nederland. At 4 different locations, about 100km around Cairo. Monitoring crops by using aerial imagery from #drones.

During 2020 HiView worked for @Natuurmonument with @BorgmanBeheer. Mapping young upcoming trees in heather fields in an area of 1400ha in Drenthe, using NIR (Near InfraRed) cams.
From the resulting #CHM Canopy Height Model biomasses from all vegetation classes have been assessed.
In field today, 10 m/s wind. Flying our newly developped #minidrone rgb/nir cam. 200g, low cost, auto capturing and RTH, very easy to control. Ideal for #smallscale, #quickresponse, #agriculture and various other sectors. Developed with Sam van Til. Supported by @H2020Projects
Today HiView performed test #drone flights with a thermal cam. In preparation of a MIT (from @RVO_Nederland) research project concerning frost that is a threat for fruityards. Together with @FutureWaterNL and @tudelft.

Together with my colleague Martijn de Klerk from @FutureWaterNL earlier this month we conducted lectures for @ihedelft. It feels good to share our knowledge, both practical and theoretical, with students interested in #drone technology.

A new training in Kenya, @Egertonuni, on Flying Sensors is coming up this year. @FutureWaterNL has been granted to supply an educational progam on #waterproductivity by @Nuffic. HiView will be responsible for training both on processing and piloting.
HiView is presently busy with research on low-cost GNSS receivers in comparison with high-end RTK devices. Together with @civTU Delft. Promising! Low-cost Ardusimple devices differ only a few cm in measured elevation. This will contribute to our EU project @twigah2020
