Posted about this climb before — here’s the fuller story.
Mt. Fuji has five distinct stages on the way up. They map almost exactly onto the five stages of grief.

A 25-year-old man collapsed in the sun.
What followed was a brutal fight in the ICU — lungs drowning in fluid, kidneys failing, and a family clinging to hope. But we lost him.
Heat stroke doesn’t warn, doesn’t spare the strong.

I spotted this gem by Norman Rockwell called “Road Block” at a cozy little coffee shop in a suburb of Nagasaki. It shows a stubborn little bulldog just chilling in the middle of the street, holding up a whole line of traffic — including a bright red Pepies delivery truck — while the driver tries to gently shoo him away. Total small-town vibes.
This 1949 classic was hanging right above an old-school Kyoto Style cold brew coffee machine. You see it everywhere now on wooden signs and vintage-style prints.
Such a random, fun mix of American nostalgia and Japanese suburb life — it seriously made my day. ☕🐶
