Just in time for Christmas. Paper describing the first phase of our efforts to develop a probe to detect sites of SARS-CoV-2 infection anywhere in the body. Check it out. frontiersin.org/articles/10.…. PS: The radio-labeled probe works! Get ready! Cool and very scary at the same time
Nothing like spinning up a nice ball of mucus at the end of a long hard experiment. Differentiated human airway epithelium, ~80 hrs. #FluorescenceFriday
ALT a swirl of mucus a few mm across spins in a circle, pulling additional bits of mucus from the edges as it goes. looks like the eye of jupiter but fast.
We are excited to finally get this out! Check out our publication on how Abs get to the vaginal vault!
HINT: It takes ~1wk for IgG saturation of squamous tissues. Also, it's in a two-step phase: convective extravasation followed by epithelial differentiation!
Thank you, Tahmina Sultana from @HopeLab_NU, for sharing your “Why I Got Vaccinated” story! “As a medical researcher, as a virologist, I think it’s very important to use all the miracles of medical science.” @NUFeinbergMed#VaccinesWorkyoutu.be/ZaWhHBj5s2s
Roslyn Taylor, @HopeLab_NU and colleagues @NUFeinbergMed use multiple imaging techniques to determine how #HIV travels throughout the colon once introduced into the body and how dIgA influences HIV movement in the rectum.

Join me as I describe ongoing work in HIV and efforts to adapt these approaches in overcoming #SARS-CoV2. Strategies combining science, technology, and public health initiatives in managing global pandemics will be discussed. #coronavirusevent.on24.com/wcc/r/2556125… soctwTomHope
Best put by our chair, @mliarispe, “change isn’t passive, it’s intentional, it requires purpose and perseverance”. CDB_NU fully supports #BLM and today we’re stepping away from science to reflect on how we can make meaningful changes to support this movement in STEM #ShutDownSTEM

The retrovirus conference, #CROI will be held virtually due to increasing concerns that travel to a large group gathering is not advisable from a personal and public health perspective. A sound decision by smart infectious disease experts. #COVID19
Sign of the times: CROI, the retrovirus conference, is going virtual. Slated to start Mon., organizers are now telling attendees not to travel to Boston.
#Covid19 is going to be so hard on the travel/hospitality industries. And the people who work in them. croiconference.org/march-6-2…
