This is crazy. This just happened less than 2 hours ago. Two cargo ships collided in the #WellandCanal. @Welland @WellandTribune. Video courtesy of Jeremy Barton.

It's a dangerous time for turtles! 🐢🚗 "Large Snapping Turtle on its way across the highway – from that strut, I'd say nothing better get in its way! During nesting/egg laying time, so many of these don't make it across the road." 📸: Stacey Wood | #CWFPhotoClub

In the North Atlantic Ocean, south of Greenland and Iceland, a large patch of water is doing something very strange. While the rest of the ocean heats up, it's been getting colder. A new study says it has the answer to this mystery — and it's an ominous sign the world is hurtling toward one of the most alarming climate tipping points. cnn.it/4xpS2nQ

Arctic sea ice is shrinking from climate change forcing many polar bears have to shift their diets to land during parts of the summer. For isolated communities at the top of the world, keeping the planet’s largest land predators -- polar bears -- away from human settlements is key to coexistence.

Tuesday's tornado near Oxbow, Sask., was given initial EF-3 damage rating after it severely impacted a home on farm property, making it Canada's strongest twister since 2023. Notable fact: Canada has only had three EF-3s since @westernuNTP began. #SKstorm theweathernetwork.com/en/new…

Algae population in N.W.T.'s Great Bear Lake has changed significantly since turn of the century due to #ClimateChange, a new study in @PNASNews suggests. Researchers say it's too early to determine potential impacts on fish and other species. @queensu theweathernetwork.com/en/new…

Using #climate data from 1961-1990, their results arose from the period of days each year when temperatures rose above what was historically normal for a given location during the warmest part of the year, according to the @UBC study. Summer temperatures in Sydney, Australia, now last about 130 days, up considerably from 80 days in 1990. That added an average of 15 days per decade. @UBCGeog

Tornado watch now in effect for southeastern Saskatchewan and southern Manitoba, including Winnipeg and Brandon. From @environmentca: Thunderstorms are expected to initiate around 4-5 p.m. local time over southwestern Manitoba and extreme southeastern Saskatchewan, with the initial storms being discrete before growing into a large, linear thunderstorm complex that will race eastward across southern Manitoba this evening. Discrete thunderstorm development is also possible later this afternoon over the Red River Valley.
A surface low is expected to develop east of the Rockies in Montana and track northeast, acting as main trigger for explosive storm development. Main hazards will be damaging wind gusts, large hail and one or two tornadoes, with favourable supercell environment. #SKstorm #MBstorm

Continued (keyboard now fixed). Strong tornadoes are possible with any discrete storms that develop. Embedded tornadoes are also possible within the linear thunderstorm complex early this evening. Significant damage or destruction to infrastructure, homes and the natural environment is possible. #MBstorm #MBwx
